When Cleanscapes took over Wastemanagement they delivered a smaller can than we had previously but continued to bill us the higher charge for ALMOST A YEAR!!! I don't go out and check the numbers on my silly trash can so didn't catch it for awhile. When I called them they promised to give us a credit for the overage and deliver a new larger can. New can arrived but NO CREDITS!!! Then, when I called to ask where my credits were they totally lied about saying they would give me credits and only offered 2 months of credits plus offered to cut off my service if I didn't pay my bill in full. I don't f()@king think so!! I had to talk to the VP because the head of customer service is an a$$hole and I am still waiting for my credits. Of course, I won't pay my bill either until I get them. I would rather take the trash to the dump. The garbage truck is NEVER consistent on what time it will pick up and the guys running the truck are total slobs and dump trash in our driveway almost weekly.
WASTEMANAGEMENT COME BACK!!!

I am not a fan of Cleanscapes. I work for a church that, like the rest of Shoreline, used to be serviced by Waste Management. Our garbage load really varied, and with WM we enjoyed the ability to call for a pickup when necessary. With Cleanscapes, garbage HAS to be picked up weekly - we are just supposed to alter the size of our receptacle to fit our needs. Oh yeah, and recycling service is "free" (read: included in the garbage service fee). OK, not a huge deal. Now, due to financial difficulties we have been on credit hold for the past 3 months or so. However, Cleanscapes has continued to charge us for service...even though we aren't receiving any. The response I got was "We are still obligated to collect payment as per our contract with the city of Shoreline. I believe their thinking is that because you still have our carts and the account is still open we should still receive payment." This is not just poor business practice, it is criminal.

So for the last 9 years I have been working downtown and we have NEVER had a problem with our garbage/recycling, until cleanscapes came in. We now have to pay double(yes double!! Almost exactly!) then what we did before cleanscapes came along. Also complaints are unheard although we contact them via email andn telephone about illegal dumping. They charge for their bags, pick-up, and ridiculously charge for even unlocking the freakin dumpster!!! I believe that downtown needs to organize and talk to the mayor about this issue!!! It is driving business out of downtown!! People are having a hard enough time looking for a job and business' can't hire if there garbage/recycling bill is more than their revenue!! The idea that it will help the environment is good, but the mayor should have thought it through before throwing us in the river without a paddle!

For the last 4 weeks in a row, CleanScapes trucks have trundled through our alley-way at 3:45am (on the dot) and pounded/slammed dumpsters. This is the alley that services four buildings; the Westminster, the T.V. Dean Building, the M-Street Apartments, and the Vito's building. 3:45 AM. We've made several complaints to the company and they've said it would never happen again. Well, after what sounded like World War III about an hour ago, I'm up for good and its obvious they did not take any complaint seriously. Yay.

Last night at 1:15am Cleanscapes had a truck taking our old dumpster and replacing it with a different one. We live in a multifamily building and the noise that this created definitely woke many folks up in our building and the surrounding residences. We live in a CLEARLY residential neighborhood. There is NO reason that Cleanscapes needed to be doing this at an ungodly hour of the night when everyone is asleep. Not to mention we didn't order a new dumpster, our condo had one that worked just fine.
This is NOT the first time Cleanscapes has visited our residential neighborhood at night. Last week they were noisily picking up garbage/recycling at between 10-10:30PM. AGAIN, WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS DURING NIGHT HOURS!!!??
We never had this problem with the last garbage company, Allied Waste, who had the city of Seattle's contract before Cleanscapes.

Noticed Cathy S' comment. Wish she'd e-mail me at chrism@cleanscapes.com - I'm the company President and would be happy to address her concerns.

The City of Seattle is moving to dumpster free collection in most of the downtown area....and Cleanscapes is the only company offering this service. While I think dumpster free is a great way to go, we need a company that can actually provide the service and Cleanscapes cannot. Every time we put our waste in the alley we've had to call because the next morning it still has not been picked up. The flimsy plastic bags they provide are ripped open by the crows and garbage is strewned all over the alley.
