Fabulous Mexican crafts in clay, wood, and metal, including colorful dishes, beautifully gaudy crucifixes, and just a few dresses and bajas. Much of the religious and other folk art celebrates holidays such as the Day of the Dead. Nearly everything seems hugely overpriced, but rumor has it that profits go to the artists. Very friendly staff.

In Short
Owners Heather Stockdale and Tom Perilstein travel to out-of-the-way Mexican villages, dealing directly with artists and craftspeople, to bring back unusual finds. These are usually made from brightly painted tin in the form of arms, legs, animals and hearts, which Latin Americans use to petition saints for protection or healing. Other items include striking examples of Nearikas wax and wool paintings made by the Huichol Indians and sterling silver jewelry from Taxco.
