I was driving by and thought what kind of a cute little hole in the wall, I took my book in with me and ordered a glass of wine that took forever I think the wait person had a few to many of those glasses of wine because I had to ask 3 times before he remembered to serve mine to me. It was a slow day for me I was in really no big hurry so the wait for the glass of wine was ok
By the time I had to ask for the third time and with no patience I was than starting to get hungry, I asked for a menu which came about the same time my glass of wine came I was not finding the wait staff to amusing, nor the cook by this time. I felt i had wasted a good half hour of my life I could not even think of what I had just read I was very irritated, HOW IN THE HELL DID THIS PLACE STAY IN F______ BUSINESS, I waited another half hour for someone to come and take my order, OK I WAS DONE BY THAN, it was not a quaint place, it was dirty, bathrooms stunk, ad the cook looked to have had 10 to many nips of the old whiskey barrel. Needless to say I will not EVER be going back to that place again it was a good waste of my life, I am very very disappointed.
Pros: comedy performance
Cons: dirty, slovenly poor service

I love the Blue Onion Bistro. It's right in my neighborhood and is so friendly and welcoming. Last time I went the owner was sitting at one of the tables near us, playing with army men, and one of the patrons treated us to some "Stairway to Heaven" on the guitar placed in the corner for just that purpose. There's nothing I like better than to head over there with my boyfriend and share the Sunday paper while we eat our way through enough calories for the next week - the BOB serves up giant portions of everyone's favorite comfort foods. The chicken fried steak is literally as big as my head and is absolute perfection. I can't allow myself to go there nearly as often as I'd like, because I would weigh 500 lbs! I highly recommend...in moderation, unless you have a hollow leg.
Pros: Quirky decor, friendly people, great comfort food
Cons: No magic calorie removal system

This is one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. We went in there on Saturday evening. Our server was perfectly nice, we ordered entrees with salads to start off. We had a brief banter with him about their salad dressings.
After 15 minutes with no salads and no sign of our server we became suspicious. There was another couple who had been sitting when we came in and a table of four that came in 10 minutes after us. The foursome got their food first after twenty minutes and then the couple got theirs (they waited 35 minutes, I heard them say it.)
Right after the couple got their food (35 minutes after we sat down) the server came to our table and sheepishly told us that the chef hadn't shown up and our food would be a while longer. When I asked him for a more specific time line he basically couldn't give me one. We just got up and left.
The part that amazed me was that this guy was such a lousy server that after actually discussing the salads with us he forgot to bring them. And I'm certain that he knew sooner than 35 minutes that the chef wasn't coming and our food would take forever. Tell everyone you know, this place is terrible!
Pros: The place has amazing decor...I loved all the kitschy things around the dining area!
Cons: The service was absolutely terrible. We ended up leaving it was so bad.

This restaurant serves traditional american cuisine, but in large portions and with an equally large price tag. The first time I went there I get the chicken fried steak. While it was nice and large, it tasted like a basic chicken fried steak and was around $15.
The second time I went we got the Gorgonzola cheese fries as an appetizer and they were rich! I was full after eating just a handful of these. For the main entree I had a stuffed pork loin. The stuffing had polish sausage which was a tasty twist, but again it was very rich.
I probably won't go back for a while.

I just got back from the BOB, a restaurant that is within walking distance from my house that I used to go to until the service went down hill. I'm so glad I did! The staff is new! The food is the best its ever been!
Something that I highly recommend having is something off of their revolving specials menu. Tonight I tried the "winter hen" it is chicken breast stuffed with the most wonderful kielbasa stuffing!
THANKS BOB! I'm so glad you're back!
Pros: Loud mouth waitress is gone!
Cons: I get too full every time I go

Oh my Toobittertofunction! Spoken like a true x employee! I?ve known Roy and Company for many years and eat at his Blue Onion Bistro all the time. The food is awesome and the wait staff brings a homey charm only found at the BOB. Roy never ceases to amaze me with his ?go get em? attitude and devotion to his Restaurant. It is his labor of love. During the day he is the manager for a heavy equipment repair shop, a job he?s been at for more than 20 years. Still, he manages come up with new dinner specials every two weeks and inspires his Chefs to create truly amazing dishes. The weekend breakfast specials are new and exciting EVERY week. Roy insists on doing what it takes in the kitchen, often helping out in the dish pit. He is the lead Chef for breakfast on Saturday. From Blue Sirloin Omelets to his signature Seattle Breakfast sandwich, I?ve always found everything fantastic and well worth the price. Perhaps it isn?t him or his staff that is unintelligent, immature, or burned out slackers. Perhaps you really are too bitter to function?
Pros: Great Food, Feels like home
Cons: x employees

The menu reads "Seattle's Best Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs". A lofty claim. I have consumed my share of C.F.S., both in Seattle and abroad. When ordered, C.F.S. usually manifests in one of two forms. There is the colossal, pre-formed, salsbury steak with breading variety; which when prepared correctly can be quite tasty and satisfying, despite their mass produced origins, and when prepared incorrectly are apalling. Then there's the smallish, round steak with breading variety. These are generally un-seasoned, un-tenderized, and often un-enjoyable.
The C.F.S. I had at the B.O.B. was in a class of it's own. Obviously hand breaded, well seasoned (it would have been great even sans the rich, savory, sausage gravy) and, be still my heart, tender enough to be cut without struggle with a fork! While not it was not as sizeable as those pre- packaged "greasy spoon" style steaks (which I usually can't finish anyway), it was definitely big enough to satisfy. In short it was a real, honest to goodness, home made chicken fried steak. A very rare thing indeed in this day and age. Add to this, wonderful, fresh cooked, home style potatoes; a pair of perfect eggs (sunny side up), and a big mug of Cafe Vita, and I was sold. I had had an initial pang of dismay upon seeing the $12 price tag associated with the entree, but after having experienced the meal, I find the price reasonable. Seattle's Best Chicken Fried Steak lives up to it's name. On the way out, I stopped to check out the dinner menu hanging outside the door. Can't wait to try that Stuffed Pork Tenderloin!
Pros: Great food. Pleasant, Friendly staff. Cool Decor (the "Gargantua" poster is AWESOME!)

The food is good, I'll give it that. I know someone that works there, so I hear the dirt all the time. The chef, Johnny, is great and possibly the only nice person that works there.
The kitchen is loud and not separated from the seating area by any sort of door or anything, I've heard Sam, a waitress, yelling and bitching about customers and other employees several times. On a day when I'd upset my friend that works there, I heard them laughing about me and threatening to purposely ruin my food. I've seen people working in the kitchen when quite obviously sick, which just bothers me all around.
Cora made the best breads and cinnamon rolls I'd ever had, until Roy fired her - because she broke up with him. Letting personal problems ruin foods your restaurant is known for is just a bad plan overall.
The the waitresses and owner (Roy) are unprofessional, unintelligent, immature, burned out slackers. It's obvious just looking at them that they couldn't get a job anywhere else - greasy, trashy and smoking out back.
(I'm not an ex-employee. Don't think that's why I'm not fond of the staff. I've never worked there, I've just never been satisfied with the service).
Pros: great food, cute decor
Cons: irritating staff, way overpriced

this is my favorite time of year to visit the blue onion bistro. i like to get a beer and sit outside on the patio at the pic-nic table. after i order dinner (usually one the bi-weekly specials) my bf and i move to the swing and sit and enjoy the evening together. a few weeks ago we shared a special called the "lady and the tramp". it was a huge plate of spaghetti with meatballs (we shared with my sis and her bf)...i don't usually eat meat, but these meatballs were amazing. the chef told me they were made from beef and pork with secret spices. our dinner also came with a house salad and garlic bread for two. on a slow weekday evening the staff will sometimes come outside and mingle. they're always good for a story or joke while you wait.
Pros: staff, porch swing
Cons: roosevelt way
