We go out to dinner just about every weekend and we try to go to a different place each time. Jak's Grill might be the best steak we have ever had in Seattle. My husband ordered the 40oz porterhouse and I had the petite filet. Both were excellent and cooked to perfection. The appetizers and sides were also AMAZING. The only "con" would be that the bread that they give you is not that great, but who cares...everything else was A+. I had a couple of lemon drop martinis and they were incredible and very reasonably priced! Everything was so delicious we had to order dessert and the desserts did not disappoint. I found the staff to be very friendly and the atmosphere was very relaxed, not pretentious at all. We will definitely return very soon.
Pros: food, drinks, prices
Cons: the bread

In the past month I have had (3) brunches and a lunch and loved it until this past Monday. My 85 yr old mother in law went in at 4:45pm to meet my wife, son and his girlfriend. She was told she couldn't sit down, couldn't get a table, they would not speak to her when she asked a question. My wife came at 5:05 pm and was told they couldn't get a table for (4), had to eat in the bar where there was no space with the exception of a table for four. After conversations, the table was set and they agreed (2) would have happy hour and when the other two arrived pay full price. Well, they waited and when they finally gave their drink order they were told they couldn't be served. Quietly they both rose and said to hostess and server, "with the state of the economy I would think customer service would be first and foremost" and left. They went next door to the Matador, were greeted warmly, seated, drink order take and food order as well. Excellent meal and we've vowed not to go back until the Manager is apprised of the situation.
Pros: Excellent brunch and the steaks wonderful
Cons: Hostess and some wait staff very rude, must be new.

I took my boyfriend to Jak's Grill for his birthday because we had both been wanting to try it. Overall the experience was very nice. The hostess was very accomodating - moving us to another booth at our request when we were first seated. Our server was gracious as well - she explained the differences in the cuts of steak and was quick to ask us if we'd like more drinks when they were getting low. The bread did taste stale, which was a shame but not a huge deal. My boyfriend loved his steak, the chef prepared it to a perfect medium rare. My Salmon entree, on the other hand, which I asked to be prepared Medium Rare as well, came out Well done. It had close to no moistness and very little flavor - which is what happens when you overcook fish. The only other thing that was not enjoyable was the vegetable - some huge pieces of broccoli and carrot with little to no flavor - quite unappetizing. On a good note, we both loved the spinach salads and our wine was teriffic as well.

I don't know why they flock to this place. The food is atrocious, the staff is rude and not very helpful. I made the mistake of trying a pork chop there and I'd have to say that was a big mistake. I should have never taken those precious 2 bites into it, as I didn't realize until I swallowed the 2nd bite that it was raw in the center. I sent it back and they tried to cook it, only to bring back a raw pork chop again, then had the nerve to force me to pay for the 2 bites of raw pork they served me. Now, I'm a fan of raw uncooked meats when they are safe, but not pork. The illness I got from this was pretty legendary. I would warn all to avoid this dump and go somewhere better like Quinns or the Met, or El Gaucho, or Capital Grill, anywhere but this unsanitary place. I'd rather eat at Denny's.
Pros: cheap[
Cons: rude staff, terrible food

Living a couple blocks away from Jak's Grill, I've had the pleasure of enjoying my carnivorous side at JaK's Grill in West Seattle. While they've raised their prices over the years, they have still remained one of the best steakhouses in the greater Seattle area and certain, I think, the best steakhouse, dollar for dollar. JaK's supposedly gets their midwestern beef from the same suppliers as El Goucho's and other fine steakhouses. True or not, I've never met a piece of beef there I've never liked.
The service is friendly and the atmosphere is great. You can come causual or dressed to the nines and you'll feel at home. Very nice wine selection as well.
About the only negative thing I can say about JaK's is that they simply do not take reservations. Fridays and Saturdays, you should plan to get their early or plan to wait. Worth the wait? Simply put. YES. The other negative thing is that while they server an awesome Rib Eye, they do not have prime rib itself, which is usually my go to cut of meat.
They're meals are just that, not the Ala Carte style found in the uber high end steakhouses. So you'll get a nice salad, vegies and your choice of rice, baker load up or what is becoming my favorite, potato pancake.
They have three locations and while I've not tried the other two, the West Seattle locale is a keeper for me.
Pros: Top Value, Quality Beef, Good Portions, Great Service
Cons: No Reservations, No Prime Rib but awesome Ribeye

Got sick the last time I ate there. Terrible wait and bad service. The hostess was hostile and did not care about the long wait. We have had good experiences before and the food was good. This last time, it was crowded and the service was bad. I would not go in a large group or after 6:30. The wait can be up to 2 hours. We will not return.
