I wasn't expecting much based on their storefront, however I was pleasantly surprised when I went inside. By far the biggest selection of beers that I've seen anywhere in the Seattle area. I am partial to Belgian ales and they have a healthy selection of them.

McCarthy and Schiering is my favorite wine store. Good selection, knowledgeable friendly staff, range of prices. Joining their Vinter's Select club - $100 for a lifetime membership - gets you advance notice of specials as well as discount pricing on everything from a single bottle to multiple cases. The folks here will take the time to talk with you about your tastes in wine or a meal you're preparing and help you find a match. They'll encourage you to try something different, and I'd trust their recommendations. And they do special orders. Call them if you are looking for something specific and odds are they can find it for you.
There are 2 locations. I use the Ravenna store but hear the Queen Anne store is just as good in terms of selection and staff.

Bear is great! He's knowledgeable, friendly and makes everyone who comes in welcome, and even part of the family so to speak. The selection covers most everything you can think of, with an emphasis on imported and Northwest wines. Prices are quite reasonable. This place is a real gem!
Pros: selection, knowledgable staff, friendly
Cons: street parking

They try to get you in with this touchy-feely, then slam you with corporate value-system. Fuehrer Paul Allen owns the property, Whole Foods own their employees, and the whole of Puget Sound is taken in with their pseudo-organic corporate greed. Don't shop here unless you have to. There are smaller local companies to support!

We've been getting Kegs here at this Ballard/Fremont (Frellard!) gas station/deli for years. They have a huge selection and decent prices, and are open late. Call ahead to reserve your selection, you can get a tap (with a deposit) and the big 16 or 20 oz keg cups too. You can get pony kegs too. I think keg prices range from $60 for the cheap stuff up to near $200 for micros/imports.

The Vineyard Wine Shop is a great neighborhood wine store. They have a very nice selection of wines, particularly Washington State wines. There are of course wines from California, Europe, Australia and South America as well. There is a wide range of pricing, and tasting events also. the owner is very friendly and well informed and happy to help you pick something just right for any occasion.

More
This is not some high profile, fancy wine importer. The shop is nestled in between a dry cleaners and Thai restaurant, and can be easily missed when driving down the street. It eschews ornate displays in favor of rows of wine stacked in cardboard boxes and simple wooden racks. European Vine Selections concentrates on having a great selection over how well they can put together a store display. All types of wine are well represented with affordable prices to match. The staff is also very knowledgeable and happy to help you find just the right wine. If you're looking for a good wine this is a great place to check out.

Champion Cellars was the first privately owned wine store in the state of Washington. They're still in business with the original owners. Emile and Stephanie know wine and how to pair it with food. They are the most knowledgeable wine shop owners in the state and are always warm and welcoming. This place is a true Seattle Treasure.
