You can stop in and say hello! to Manny and Roger and get a keg to go now at their brewery in Georgetown. If you haven't had either, you are truly missing out, both are among the best beers out there and trust me, I've had more than a few (hundred) Go visit them next time you need a keg (or a pony for that matter-or even a growler!)

Bear is great! He's knowledgeable, friendly and makes everyone who comes in welcome, and even part of the family so to speak. The selection covers most everything you can think of, with an emphasis on imported and Northwest wines. Prices are quite reasonable. This place is a real gem!
Pros: selection, knowledgable staff, friendly
Cons: street parking

I just visited on Saturday night and I loved this place! The bartender/server was friendly and helpful and the wines were outstanding and reasonably priced. The music was good and the overall vibe of the place is very relaxed, like a great little neighborhood place should be. The menu was limited but good. The Salumi plate is delicious and the cheese plate was surprisingly good and varied. The only improvement I'd like to see is more staff. The guy working on Saturday was really busy and all by himself.
Pros: Good wine selection, interesting eats, fantastic service
Cons: None

I have been shopping at Dish It Up since it opened in our Magnolia neighborhood and I love this store. They always seem to have what I am looking for including hard to find kitchen gadgets, and now they even sell the perfect wines for every occasion. I haven't tried the cooking classes yet but I understand they are terrific. In my opinion you can't go wrong shopping at Dish It Up.
Pros: Location and Selection
Cons: None

The staff here is amazing. Sometimes they seem fairly busy but if you talk to them they will do anything for you. As far as quality goes, no market in the city is better. Trust me I've been to them all. I have hosted a few events over the years and they have been able to find whatever I was looking for. To summarize, I just love Metropolitan Market.
Pros: parking, sevice

Uber Tavern is amazing on several fronts. First the vibe: Upon entering this tiny gem you are greeted by a round fireplace bar made by a local artist. It?s kind of a communal table masquerading as a small bonfire. Sometimes it?s taken up by a group, other times shared by strangers. The music is varied & intelligent. The Main Bar is big for such a small space, very wide & great for spreading out with food, laptop (free wi-fi), a fishbowl-size goblet of beer, etc. But the best thing about the bar is Uber?s giant glowing glass-door cooler behind the main bar, showcasing all their fancy bottled beers. Now about the beer--and let me tell you, unless you?re Mr. Drinky McBeermaster, it?s a good thing the bartenders are so beer-wise. I have never seen a more varied, exotic, and fun beer selection. Great for the beer geeks sure, but if you?re an average beer enthusiast, you?ll need a guide. The bartenders are very helpful here. Let?s just say they are experts at what they do. Now the weird part: It?s a BAR with over 200 beers, yet you can take all of them with you...including the beers coming out of their 17 taps. They even sell kegs to go (the house specialty). Sit there & knock back a few, then to take a mix pack out the door with you at the end of your visit. Uber also has ?growlers? (refillable glass bottle) which you can buy and they?ll fill them up straight from the taps to go. Food there is a BYO thing, but they have ?the Book of Menus? (all the places that deliver there?encouraged). Best of all, not a lot of people know about Uber yet. Being on 75th & Aurora makes it kind off the geographic radar compared to Ballard, Fremont, Cap Hill, etc. So for at least a little longer, it will continue to be a ?locals joint? you only hear about via word-of-mouth. I already regret writing this.
Pros: selection, uniqueness, ambience, size (if you like small places)
Cons: size (if you don't like small places)

I recently moved to Seattle and was seriously considering taking a ferry to the grand Central Market store in Poulsbo. Then not a couple days later discovered the Shoreline location and my life hasn't been the same since. I normally judge grocery stores by their produce section and this store WINS.
Just the fact that they have four different colors of cauliflower on display makes me want to buy cauliflower. I don't even like cauliflower! I've been sampling random varieties of fresh fruit at will lately. All quality, never plastic. Major selection, and reasonable prices. I'm used to shopping at Winco. But this store has a great depth of specialty items in stock. Sometimes more expensive. I am always amazed when I come in with a challenging list of hard to find items and end up finding exactly what I need. The variety of fungus this place carries year round is better than anywhere else. I've seen fresh lobster mushrooms there, maitake (hen of the woods), enoki, king oyster, jarred truffles, variety samplers, dried varieties, alongside monster portabellos, crimini and buttons, chanterelles, shiitake, etc.
Pros: produce section, fungus, specialty items, prices, parking
Cons: strip mall context

We initially dropped by Matador, not a bad place but it just wasn't our scene, we wanted somewhere cool and comfy to catch up with old friends. Walked across the street and were very pleasantly surprised with West 5. Really nice waitstaff, great mac and cheese, stiff drink. West Seattle is a bit out of the way, but will be making the trip back.
