City People's Garden Store always has an excellent selection of plants, especially perennials, shrubs and annuals. They also have trees that are suited for our smaller city lots. They carry high quality tools and a nice variety of organic fertilizers and soils. I also love their selection of pottery, books, cards, and gifty items.
The nursery is well organized, tidy, and the plants always look great.
They also have a Landscape Design and Construction department, so if you need help with your yard, you can hire their designer to come to your home for a consultation.

I go the Sandpoint Store, which is mainly housewares-type stuff, plus a hardware section and a nursery outside. The Madison Park store is mainly plants. This place can get very busy on the weekends, so I prefer going shopping after work when no one else is there. I always find cute little gifts & cards but I can also buy my batteries, masking tape and potting soil here too. They have a great after Christmas sale, and if you get on their mailing list they will send you coupon books and notify you of upcoming sales. If you can find the people who are buyers for the store or who have worked there a long time and really know the merchandise, you will get all your questions answered, be able to special order things, etc.
PROS: Great selection of merchandise, convenient location.
CONS: hardware stuff more expensive than say, Home Depot

Theoretically it iis a hardware - merchantile store. So if you really need a basic tool or nails and such they have. Also a nice little supply of gardening gear. Lots and lots of housewares and gifts. I find it to be a little too boutiqey especially in the prices. But I think if you are living downtown with no car or just need to hang a picture on your wall, they will have what your need. The one in fremont used to have a paint section too. Milk paint even!

I love coming to this place, they have a large selection of all types of plants; outdoor and houseplants. They also have a great selection of seeds and pots/planters. I bought a tiny greenhouse type thing for $4, and bought some seeds for my herb garden, worked great! It also has a bunch of cute home decorations. They do run pricey, but I think it's worth it for the selction.
PROS: Great selection
CONS: on the expensive side

They also have in inddor store with plenty of knick-knacks and decorating niceties, but it's the garden store that really makes the place. They also have teams of professional landscapers to do a variety of jobs.

City Peoples is the quintessential Seattle shopping experience - all-natural, down-home yet sexy, highly costly stuff for your yard and home. If you want to buy sea glass pebbles by the pound, or find a cute little potted succulent for your office, this is the place to go. They also sell seeds, plants, and tons of overpriced scented candles, darling gifts, and greeting cards. Staff is a tad condescending, and prices are on the high side.
PROS: Fun to look around
CONS: Staff tends to act as though you're hassling them buy tryng to buy products

I love this quaint nursery found in Seattle's Madison Park neighborhood. Its selection matched what you can find in any of the larger nurseries around the Seattle area, but without being overdone. It had a cute gift shop and many healthy plants, but what I most liked was its selection of garden art. Its staff was very helpful and not at all pushy. It reminded me of the nursery my mother used to take me to when I was a little girl growing up in Seattle. That nursery unfortunately no longer exists because it was replaced by a housing development so it was a pleasure for me to find a nursery that caters to us as neighbors and not just customers.
Pros: Fair prices, Good selection
Cons: Limited parking
