I've banked with several different institutions ranging from Bank of America to Washington Mutual (now Chase) - I keep bringing all of my accounts back to BECU. Even when I experience the odd problem, their reps are alway quick to help and eager to keep my business. I appreciate that I never have to deal with hidden charges or other unexpected fees, and their interest rates are unparalleled.

I applied for a loan and the officer said "we get really busy around here so call me if I don't call you back on this". Well, I am also VERY busy at my office and I feel like if they wanted my business, they'd make a "note to self" to call me. When I did try calling the officer back with questions, I found that the Ballard office doesn't accept outside calls and you have to talk to a whole new person about your loan or fight just to get them to send you back to the Ballard branch which they clearly didn't want to do. After the operator checked to see if my loan officer was available, she discovered he wasn't and said she'd leave him a message to call back....still waiting.

Good: accessibility (I live out of state and have access just fine through credit union network), website/online banking (best banking site of the ones I've used, good interest rate on first $500 in each account, customer service over the phone, few random charges. Bad: overall interest rates not competitive. Other: I've had BECU for probably about 10 years now. I moved from Washington state 5 years ago, but I still use BECU as my main bank. I've been able to access my accounts just fine through shared branching at other credit union locations, in California. BECU doens't always have the best interest rates, but it's easy to move your money around with them, and I don't get stray charges for things, so I will definitely stick with BECU for the forseeable future..

BECU sucks hard core. Their customer service is the worst because their people are poorly trained. Most of their technology is provided by vendors which is unreliable such as their new website and cash machines that break all the time. They always blame the vendors and people at BECU never take ownership.

When I first opened my BECU (Boeing Employees Credit Union) account I had no idea how my "banking experience" would change. In the beginning only Boeing employees and their families could join...now they have expanded that invitation to most of Washington's residents. Whether you choose to go into their main office and conduct your business or stop at one of their many branches or ATM's you will certainly find them friendly, accurate, and more than willing to help with your every need. My favorite offering is their incredibly simple and secure FREE online bill payment. This service is a lifesaver for me...no matter where I am in this busy world, I can log on and pay my bills..check my accounts, transfer funds, track my credit card, view statements both from BECU and from my creditors , set up automatic payments....and the list goes on and on .....I have used this service for over 1 year and never had a mistake, late payment, or miscue of any kind. They offer great rates on CD's& MM's and their credit card APR's are very competitive... From top to bottom it's a great place to do business...

As a long time member of BECU I have saved so much money banking with them over the years. Their fees and rates are better than most banks, their deposit rates for savings and CD's are higher too. The number of locations is still small, but is enough to do the job. Most of your interaction with BECU can be done through online banking anyway. If you qualify to bank there and choose not to you are throwing away your money!

BECU is now open to everyone in Washington, not just Boeing employees. Since it's a credit union, profits are returned to members in the form of free travelers checks, low rates on loans, and VISA cards that still have a 25-day grace period. BECU may not have as many ATMs as some banks, but there are enough (3 in Bellevue, for example). Meanwhile, free online banking with bill payment is always available.
