I used to really like this place but due to our poor treatment tonight my friends and I will not be going back. We arrived at 7:30pm for my husband's 40th birthday celebration. With five of us over the course of 2.5 hours we ordered 5 sakes 5 beers and 3 cocktails at which point when having to request another round three times we were sheepishly told by the waitress that we were cut off and that there was a 5 drink each limit. We hadn't had 25 drinks so we were puzzled and asked for some clarification as to why this rule was in effect since we had been to Warabi several times before and had never been cut off like this. We were then told that some guy (the bartender or the head chef) felt that too much alcohol was going to our table. I don't feel we were being any louder than any other time and since there weren't any other patrons in the restaurant I couldn't imagine it was our behavior that brought about our sanctioning. My guess is that since it was a half an hour from their 10:30pm closing time they were trying to get us out of there so they could leave early.
It really is disappointing but I can't go back to a place that was so rude and essentially ruined my husbands special day
Cons: treated poorly

My boyfriend and I used to love this place and come here all the time for happy hour. Best sushi around seattle! When we noticed the name change, we decided to give them a chance. One of the rolls we ordered was a fried shrimp tempura roll. I actually witnessed them MICROWAVING it!!!! Need I possibly say any more?! I would rather eat at Sushi Land, the Mc Donalds of sushi then the horrible overpriced food I received from Warabi.
Pros: none
Cons: bad food, owner change

I love going to sush places, and for the most part, I'm ok with it. But, after trying Warabi or whatever this place is called yesterday, I was very very disappointed. The food was horrible and was very expensive. The portion wasn't satisfying either. I had some of the worst sushi rolls I have had in my life. It felt like a completely waste of money. I would never go back, and I recommend nobody to try their sushi and rolls. Find some other place that are better (which is not very difficult because anywhere else would be better)
Pros: fairly good service, good atmosphere
Cons: below average food, little portion, overpriced.

This resturant used to be a different japanese resturant that I used to go to regularly, I was so bummed when I drove by to see something totally different. I heard good things about it so I decided to give it a try. I am so glad I did! The food is so tastey, you can tell it's high quality, but without the high price. The menu is different, it is bigger, but It has most of the dishes it did before, and a lot of good looking new ones too.
And the service has been great! All the girls there seem so sweet and they have treated me so kindly. I will definitly be going back again and again.
Pros: It only has about 15 tables not counting the bars so it can fill up fast, I might make a reservation next time. And I think it has a couple larger rooms for big parties too!
Cons: Parking, and location

My fiance and I live just locks away from what used to be Yamashiro and loved to go often for Sushi, Saki and a fun atmosphere. Tonight we drove up and noticed the name out front changed to "WARABI". The inside was exactly the same and otherwise looked like Yamashiro so we gave it a shot. Apparently there are new owners and we honestly could not have been more disappointed. The fish was seriously STINKY and the presentation was nothing short of sloppy. I wish I could give this place a positive review because I loved having a great sushi place near-by, but this change of ownership ruined this restaurant. We will never go back. Save your money and drive a bit north (Edmonds) or South (Greenlake/Fremont/Seattle) for much better choices.
Pros: Saki
Cons: Terrible service, messy presentation, old fish

My husband and I eat at Yamashiro Bistro a lot. Their fish is always very fresh and they have a huge selection of rolls to choose from. Their Rainbow Roll, Aurora Avenue Roll, and Seattle Tempura Roll are our favorites. They also have a nice bar and the decor is professional, comfortable, and simple. We've reserved their private tables for business meetings a few times and everyone enjoyed their meals. The only downside is that it's in a tiny strip mall on Aurora, but when you're inside, you'll forget the strip mall.
Highly Recommended
Pros: Fresh sushi, great roll and nigiri selection, nice bar
Cons: Location

..but definitely good quality. I was very happy to find this great little place on Aurora of all places! A friend of mine had told me about the place, but it wasn't until driving by that I recognized and remembered the name. The parking lot can be tricky as there aren't a lot of spaces, but this is definitely a fun and pleasant place to grab a bite to eat. The Kobe burger is huge, and the sushi is prepared well. We re-invented the key lime martini they serve (which is just soooo tasty!) for Valentine's this year. If you haven't been, this is a great find that you must try out in the North end.
Pros: friendly service, fun laid-back atmostphere, clean!
Cons: parking

I've had nothing but the best experiences every time I walk into this little hidden oasis on Aurora Ave. The staff and owner are extremely genuine and they serve the highest quality ingredients at an affordable price. The menu is wonderfully assorted and this is my favorite spot in town for seared ahi. The ahi trio is my favorite dish! Their signature salad beats any other in town with the addition of a lovely and generous portion of ahi. Although they are bec`oming more popular and steadily gaining a loyal clientele, it is still easy to find room there during most of the week and on Sundays. Weekends, like any other good place in town, requires more patience and ideally reservations. But hey, good food takes time anywhere! Love, love, love this place!
Pros: large and unique assortment of rolls, fresh ingredients, wonderful staff
Cons: don't forget to make reservations on special holidays and on weekends

My wife and I recently arrived at Yamashiro for our 7:45pm reservation on Saturday. The restaurant was moderately busy, yet disgruntled customers were streaming out the doors.
We were very patient and friendly, but still were not seated until well after 8:30pm. By 9:30pm we still did not have our order taken. At this point the restaurant had no longer been even remotely busy for the past 45 minutes, with many empty tables. We felt waiting two hours just to have our order taken was unacceptable, and we left.
I've also heard of similar experiences from other customers. Please be very careful when visiting this establishment, or only go during off-peak hours.
