Nice place to get together with friends over some libations and pu pus, cool vibe throughout, modern sleek, the cuisine doesn't seem to jibe exactly with the decor (comfort food + ultra modern design?) - but I kinda like that
Pros: Nice drinks & atmosphere

My wife and I had brunch there late in the morning on Sunday, May 31. The restaurant wasn't crowded, and it took longer than it should have before a waiter came to our table. To make things worse, it was about 20 minutes after we placed our order before we got the food! I had the corned beef and sweet potato hash. Although it was tasty, it was light on the corned beef.
Pros: convenient for Hotel 1000 guests
Cons: service, price, pretty much everything

I love BOKA. The food on happy hour is unbeatable, and even at regular price its still not out there compared to other similar restaurants. The burger is delicious, and the atmosphere is as close to perfect as you can get in that area. You don't even feel like you are at a hotel bar at all.
What I don't like is the service sometimes. Usually I am greeted with smiles as I make my way to the bar. The bartenders and cocktailers are friendly, professional, but not overbearing. They are always willing to go out of there way to make sure the experience is perfect. I've even seen a bartender go into the kitchen to find ingredients to make drinks for guests that aren't even on the menu. So imagine my disappointment when I was in on a quiet Sunday, and was waited on my a bartender who made me feel as though my very presence inconvenienced her. There was no above and beyond, and not even a concern for my empty glass. I guess I've just learned not to go in on a Sunday.
Pros: Food, cocktails, happy hour, ambiance
Cons: Inconsistencies in service

My wife and I had dinner at BOKA yesterday to celebrate our anniversary. We were greeted very friendly and seated promptly - the staff was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is nice, although I was initially seated next to the computer used to enter orders and the fan was very noisy.
I had expected a more "eclectic" menu given the location within Hotel 1000 and the New American Urban Food focus. Steak, Chicken, the same old (the salt & pepper tofu was the exception). I had the flat iron steak, which was tasty but nothing special. My wife went with the tofu which was garnished with a black bean spread that was too sour. Overall, the food was decent but nothing special really and given the fairly high prices, I would eat at some other restaurant next time: one that is either less expensive or one that offers truly outstanding, different food at the same price.
Pros: Location, Atmosphere
Cons: Bland Food, No Creative Dishes, Expensive for what it offers

Went on Xmas day (for dinner). The waiter didn't see us right away so I had to ask the hostess (after about an 8 minute wait) for help. Then he saw us and did a fab job. All in all, quite good, I'd go back when in Seattle again.
Very good. Wine was excellent. My spouse ordered the same thing as me (salmon) and got an obviously smaller portion which was kind of odd.
Pros: Good food and wine
Cons: Sitting near front can be a little hectic as hostess is right there

Boka is a great mix of bar, restaurant, and happy hour meet-up spot. It's located off the lobby of Hotel 1000. Since my husband and I stayed there for our honeymoon, we wandered over to Boka one night. I got the best gourmet Macaroni & Cheese of my life, and the bartender made me a delicious White Peach Cosmo with rosemary in it. It was amazing! The prices can be a bit steep but the food and drinks are wonderful and the service is fantastic. Highly recommended.

So I'd been slacking on my date night planning when my wife asked me "Hey sweetheart, It's been a while since you've taken me out on a proper date...um ...can we make that happen again?"
Inspired to do a little planning, I jumped on Citysearch, found Boka, read some reiviews and put it together. Having just gotten home from one of our funnest dates in a while, I'm happy to report, Boka helped me knock it out of the park on this one.
The valet parking right in front was very convienent and under 10 bucks. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and seated withing 2 minutes of our arrival. The cozy subdued atmosphere was classy without feeling too shi-shi and fun without being too loud. Our waitress was fast and perceptive, stopping by just enough to make us feel taken care of.
A great deal of attention has obviously been paid to every aspect of the dinning experience at Boka. From the place settings to the gourmet bread spreads to the 4 peice coffe service, every thing just says "unique" and "special" which is what you want on a date night. Amy got the halibut and I enjoyed the baked chicken. Both were deliciously unique and sprinkled with destinctive and fun flavor combinations. The dessert (a chocolate lava cake with cherries and cream) was a spot on delight! The whole thing was around 80 bucks without drinks. Not too bad for a high end eatery. BIG THUMBS UP!!
Pros: Attentive staff, delicious unique food
Cons: none

for mothers day this past sunday, eight of my guests and myself had brunch here. we were treated very kindly by the staff, the 2 hostesses and our server. we all left very satisfied. the portions were perfect, not too much food, but just enough! they serve local breads from the macrina bakery. their menu is diverse enough that everyone in my party could pick something they like, from a kobe burger to belgian waffles for the kids. i would recommend their brunch to anyone who is looking for an intimate daytime meal for a special occasion. we all enjoyed everything. Their assorted mimosas were great too!
Pros: great service
Cons: 9.50 for valet?

The subtlely responsive service of the wait staff, the techno asian ambience and the superb, thoughtful menu by Chef Angie is just divine, DEEvine. Those Foodies that want to treat the palate to something unique should not miss a evening out at Boka, truly. I found my taste buds doing the tango with Fire 'n Ice --- the seared pepper encrusted ahi topped with fresh nutty sprouts swimming in soy with a tiny scoop of melon sorbet to the side. Oh, so simple but what a journey each bite was. You can create interest with unusual combinations of ingredients, but in my book if you prepare veggies keeping their texture's integrity, then you can cook. And Chef Angie proved just that with her vegetable soup as even the fresh peas still had their little snap. Ah, great meals are fun to recount and I recall it all though I ate there over a week ago. Really, go to Boka for a fine experience at the table. The price is quite fair considering the artful menu.
