I took a family heirloom to be repaired at Akamatsu. After refusing to quote me a price and taking a week longer than I was originally promised, they all but ruined my grandmother's ring I've worn for a decade: the welding was horrible, they had cut out half the detail, and hadn't reingraved it as asked. I immediately started to cry and tried to explain why I wasn't satisfied. I asked for a partial refund. They were so condescending! I stood my ground and finally they threw half of what I had paid in my face, literally swearing at me to get out of the store. As I left, still sobbing, they called out after me, "and don't ever come back!" I have never been treated so poorly at a professional establishment in my life.

I have a Seiko perpetual calender watch and my battery died. I phoned watch repair at Macy's in Northgate and they told me 1 week and $50 to replace the battery because it had to be sent out. Alex quoted me $30 and did it overnight. (The battery for this particular Seiko IS more expensive than others and re-setting the calender is complicated.) Alex is very knowledgeable about different brands and types of watches, letting us know that kinetic powered watches are not a panacea. Their capacitors need upgrading after about 5 years. Alex is located in the Fred Meyer in Ballard.

I have been shopping at Andaluz since they opened, and have always had okay experiences. I stopped in today with a friend looking for wedding gifts. We shopped around for about a half an hour, everyone working was very nice to us. When we got in line with our purchases, the woman behind the counter who I know to be the owner, was happily chatting it up the customer in front of us. A black family came in and was looking around, commenting on how cute everything was. The owner immediately became distracted, coldly staring them down. My friend handed her the items she wanted to buy, as the owner was ringing up my friend, she snapped at one of the men with the family and told him, " Man you're making me real uncomfortable with your hand in your pocket and that coat your wearing." The man seemed extremely embarrassed, she responded to this by shrugging her shoulders and justifying her comment by saying "this is my livelihood." She then carelessly threw my friends purchase in a bag and shoved it at her without a word. One of the women then told the owner she was looking for something to bring back to San Francisco with her and asked the owner how much a purse was. The owner grabbed the purse from her and hid it behind the counter and said, "Oh this is so expensive, I have $1 items over there. "
I was horrified. This was the worst shopping experience of my life.
I will NEVER shop here again, I am also telling everyone I know to never shop here again. Don't support a place like this!
Pros: location
Cons: everything

This Anthropology has less furniture than the Downtown Seattle store. But, lots of accessories for the home and beautiful displays of clothing. This place is better for trying on clothing than the downtown stores, as the clothes are closer to the dressing room. This place always makes me salivate, it's so beautiful and imaginative.

I wouldn't have expected it but these folks were pretty good at getting me setup with a new watch. They were quick and unpretentious, which was much better than I thought would happen. They were also open during mall hours, which made them accessible to me.

I have a ring that has three sapphires, each surrounded by tiny diamonds. My husband bought it for me while we were on a trip in the Caribbean. After we'd been home a couple of months one of the tiny diamonds fell out. Ack! I took it into Ben Bridge to see if they could fix it. The salesperson I got was very nice and helpful and didn't seem annoyed at all that I wasn't there to *buy* something. And - they did an excellent job putting new diamond in my ring!
