The sushi chefs are so friendly and fantastic, so sit at the sushi bar if you can. Great all around service, and the seafood is very fresh. I will definitely go back there again, and again, and again. I am definitely a sushi snob, and this is one of the best sushi experiences I have had, ever!!
Pros: Very authentic feel, fast friendly service
Cons: None that I can think of!

The food there is highly delicious after the new manager had took over. I've gone for many years and the food tastes GREAT! Even though the location may not be as good, the food is not expensive and tastes delicous that can fill you up. You have to try the Special. This Japanese Restaurant is probably better than any others located in Seattle since many of them are expensive and does not fill you up with great food. Very Nice Staffs =] ! Keep up the Great work!
Pros: Special, Kitchen food, Sushi, Sashimi, Almost Everything!
Cons: Location

If you're looking to go out to for a nice meal, that is also entertaining, Benihana is a great choice. The chefs cook the food right at the table and perform quite a show for the customers. At first it doesn't seem like you are getting a lot of food, but this is deceiving, as I can't ever finish an entire meal at this restaurant. The food tastes amazing! The best part is the fried rice, so make sure you order that instead of the steamed rice- you won't be disappointed. This place is a little pricey, but it is worth it. The only drawback for some people would be the fact that small parties share tables with other people that they might not know. I am a pretty social person, so this doesn't bother me, but if you are someone who doesn't like to talk to people who you aren't familiar with, then this place might not be for you (unless you bring enough friends to fill up an entire table). I highly recommend this restaurant- and especially the fried rice!!

I first went to this restaurant during my first week living in Seattle two years ago. It still hasn't dulled since then, and the food is simply sublime. The menu is more traditional than fusion Japanese food, but if you sit at the bar and talk a little with the sushi chef, and ask for "inspiration" or "your own expression" the answer will be every bit as amazing as the "regular" food. From the outside it doesn't look like much and on the inside you are slightly hesitant as it can be claustrophobic when crowds are large. This restaurant is not large-family friendly though that doesn't seem to stop the locals from coming. If you are in the International District and have a craving for sushi, the choices are daunting, but Tsukushinbo offers a quieter, more personal touch. I had the crunchy roll and a separate roll which is not on the menu, but is a masterpiece! My wife had onigiri and kanarage and both were simply awesome, despite being mainstays of the Japanese scene. The only complaint I have is the parking - someone traded paint with my car and didn't leave a note. Use the local parking lots if you want to avoid damage, since the streets are hilly here.
Pros: Awesome food, friendly if busy staff
Cons: claustrophobic, parking

My husband and I have been going to Sam's weekly for a year. The service is fantastic, and the sushi has always been really good. The miso soup is soooo good! The prices are reasonable. It is our favorite Ballard spot. We have gone to other sushi places in Seattle and elsewhere but we keep coming back to Sam's
Pros: fast service, good sushi

This place is basically the Cheers bar of Belltown (where everybody knows your name). They also have two unique beers I haven't seen anywhere with Buddha tap handles: Laughing Buddha Lager and Pandan Ale. Pandan Ale is soooo good!
Pros: Drinks
Cons: Parking in Belltown

So I went in with a craving for Sushi and... This place delivered! At a price on-par with other good Sushi places I recieved a large plate overflowing with fish, carved into beautiful pieces, and beautifully arranged. The staff was friendly and attentive. There was a bit of a wait on the sashimi platter itself but my beers, rice, and miso soup all came up like clockwork.
Pros: service, ambience, food

Jeff is an excellent, fun teppanyaki chef- keeps us laughing and joking throughout the meal, time and time again!
Food is great; you get more for your money here and you don't leave stinking like fried meat- it's a great, clean, open atmosphere.
Pros: priced right, Friendly staff

Kaihana (also called Sushisake) is a Japanese in Des Moines. For sushi lovers, there is a sushi bar where you can watch the sushi being made. The service at the sushi bar is excellent. There is also restaurant seating at the back of the restaurant, where you can order all your Japanese favorites. The food is good, but the service in the back is lacking.
