For just over five bucks, you can get a clamshell styrofoam takeout box mounded full of yakisoba noodles and vegetables (and tofu, if you like). I don't think I've ever eaten anything else from this restaurant, but that particular dish is the best value in yakisoba that I know of, and I highly recommend it if you want a lot of hot food for cheap. It can take a while to get your food here, but every time I've been there, my yakisoba has been well worth it.

This Ave joint has great Japanese takeout. Tempura, gyoza, calimari (calimary on the menu), tonkatsu, korokke, what-have-you. The potions are enormous, the food good and the staff helpful. If you call ahead, they'll happily have it ready for you. The wait can be kind of long at the UW Lunch hour or at certain times in the evening, but the food is great for the price.

I was a satisfied regular at Kiku until new owners decided to redecorate and shake-up the menu. The old Kiku used to offer above average food in very generous portions at a great price.
Sadly, the new Kiku seems to serve up average food that does not distinguish itself in any way from from the myriad of other options in the U district.
Considering how many fantastic places there are to eat in Seattle, I would not go out of my way to visit Kiku.

For about the same price per meal you could go to University Teriyaki just down the road and get some great Teriyaki, still cheap. The food at Kiku's is okay and occasionally good, but the atmosphere is fast-food-like. With so many other cheap options in the neighborhood, there's no good reason to go here.
