Although there are no TRUE East-coast style pizzerias out here, this one is the top of the stack. Their pizzas are great. Crust is thin, just crisp enough, toppings are generous and fresh, and its pretty inexpensive. Highly recommended.
Pros: Pizza

This place is horrible! Everyone who works there is rude and asks like they would be anyplace but there. The atmosphere is crowded and dingy, not romantic like it claims to be. And the food isn't worth the prices they charge.

The first time I went to Al Boccalino, it was right after the legal ceremony of my wife and my marriage. Even though he was not open, he graciously allowed us to stay, but we couldn't because one of my friends was a vegetarian, and since he WAS allowing us to stay, he had only one thing to cook: a veal dish.
History aside, my wife and I were very curious about this place, and others are too by simply walking by the place, going to the waterfront. The mood inside is romantic and cozy, and there's at least three small dining areas. Frank Sinatra was playing and that just brought back my memories of growing up in Chicago. We ordered the Risotto Riserve wine and I had the Raviolo, which was crab encased in home-made ravioli topped with a wonderful Pistachio creme sauce that was heavenly. My wife had the penne and we asked if Luigi (the owner and chef) could subsitute the tomato sauce for a creme sauce (my wife's favorite).
The result was heaven. Normally when I cook a alfredo sauce, the flavors are powerful, but his was subtle, and the pistachio was simply amazing! The natural crab taste blended perfectly with the sauce, and my wife's dish was awesome too. The lemon flavored noodles mixed perfectly with the creme sauce she had. Combined with the atmosphere and the cozy staff who know regulars, we were hooked. No other Italian place in the Seattle area will do anymore, and dare I say my own cooking now has to rise to the occasion!
This was a perfect occasion!
Pros: everything
Cons: parking (limited free parking)

We went here for a date and had a nice romantic evening. The karaoke was beginning a bit late and we are early diners. We were served well and promptly, had a nice dinner. Their tiramisu is one of the best I have had.. Highly recommended!
Pros: Food, Service
Cons: Parking in downtown can be an issue

My family has been coming here for years...and I think that every year the place gets better and better! I really like their dinners..the chicken piccata with the lemon butter sauce, and the garlic pasta on the side is simply to die for! Make sure you lleave some sauce for bread dipping! Also, my husband and I have recenly discovered that they serve breakfast, and let me tell ya, its the best. I, really like the atmosphere, not stuck up..very casual and family friendly. As for the service, I believe that its just such a family enviroment that everyone ends up knowing eachother so thats why so many regulars keep coming back, but I have also sent many friends a long their way who said they recieved very pleasant service for first timers.
On the down side, parking can be a little difficult to find..and the food can take long when they are busy...but take the family, the kids or a friend along and the food will definetly be worth the wait!
Pros: The service, food
Cons: parking!

Being from NY, we're very particular about our Italian food and often overly critical. We went here before the Ozomatli show on Saturday night and the food was tremendous! We did have to wait for about 20 minutes and the woman manning the hostess stand was less than friendly, even though we had a reservation, but ultimately it was worth it! Also it helped that the owner came around to personally apologize for the wait. We had the veal parmesan, which was so yummy and a cream pasta with Italian sausage, which I actually almost finished it was so good. We didn't make it to dessert unfortunately as we had to go, but we'll definitely be back!
Pros: very good food
Cons: crowded and need to hold reservations
