Seattle Design Solutions just finished the window coverings on my newly remodeled home. Price was right, quality was the best and the window coverings were delivered earlier than expected (that never happens with home improvement projects!) ! I worked directly with Connie (co-owner) who came to my home numerous times to help me pick out the right coverings and to even help install them. Even though I was on a tight budget, and only did coverings in three rooms (two bedrooms and the kitchen), Seattle Design Solutions treated my project like it was of the utmost importance. I appreciated the quality of their work, their personal attention and willingness to work within my means.
Pros: Fast Delivery, Personal Attention, Great People to work with
Cons: None

These totes are great for dorm rooms - load them up with your shampoo, conditioner, soap, washcloths, shaving cream, razor, and don't forget the flip flops! They don't take up much space either - just set it at the bottom of your closet or in a corner and on your way to the shower just grab your basket and your towel and you're set! No student should be without one of these!
You can find these totes at Bed Bath & Beyond - they are exclusively theirs. They actually have an entire college section in their store so you can pretty much find anything you could possibly want and more for your college dorm room.
Here is the link for the totes:

We have used them for many years (25+) on small projects (found a stairspace where we didn't think it possible) to second floor addtions. They listen to clients, they are considerate of budget limitations, they make the house "fit in" with the neighborhood and are true to the authentic style of the house and neighborhood.

The previous owner of our home used these guys and they did an excellent job. I hesitated giving a perfect 5 stars because I didn't use them personally but I have heard nothing but good things. We have a 1905 Craftsman in Madrona and are reaping the benefits of thoughtful and complimentary design. They gutted the upstairs and opened up the low ceilings and exposed some of the original beams. It created these incredible angles which are remarkably aesthetic. They opened up the downstairs by combining rooms and remodeling the kitchen. Whenever original work could be salvaged it was. There is a great compliment between modern and very old. John Fleming was responsible for designing our home.

Pat and Bill are more than architects. They're artists (literally - she paints; he sculpts and both draw).
They listen to what you want and what you need, and create a space that is a thrill to inhabit. They are environmentally sensitive and have a Northwest sensibility, and their work has been chosen as a Seattle Times/AIA home of the month.

Tom Lee at TAL consulting is a certified P.E. in Florida (hence the Florida area code) and Washington State (spends time in both places). He came to our house and was clearly competitent in his trade, and seemed reasonably priced. We did not end up using him because the structural redesign was beyond our budget, but we could not have reached that conclsion without his help. He charges $85/hr. $100 for an initial consultation and a minimum of $500 if he ends up doing any work (i.e., writing design specs). Nice guy, too.

I worked with Linda Withington in 2001 to design our yard and garden. It was a great process and I thoroughly enjoyed working with Linda and her staff. We ended up with a unique, artful, year-round garden that I absolutely love and many wonderful outdoor spaces to enjoy. Check out their new website at www.beerswithington.com.

Up front, this shop is NOT fancy and it seems that the employees do not go outside to take their smoke breaks. That said, we had a chair recovered and it looks absolutely fabulous! (You can always buy Fabreeze if need be.) The cost, labor + fabric, was at least 1/2 the price of estimates I received from several other places. The fabric selection is pretty extensive and I felt the work was completed in a timely manner.
I don't know that I would take a family heirloom here, but if you've got something that needs a quick facelift and don't feel like spending an arm and a leg to do it, I recommend these guys.
