Awesome, hotel. The rooms and lobby look like they are from the pages of Dwell or I.D. The location in Belltown on First is walking distance to everything from Pike Market to the Space Needle. It is located right above The Cyclops. On top of all that, it is one of the best bargains in Seattle. I stayed there when interviewing for work in Seattle and put my guests up there when they come to visit. Not a place for the kids.

The King's Inn isn't the most luxurious place we've ever stayed, but for the price it can't be beaten! We enjoyed our stay and loved the location is perfect, in Belltown right between Seattle Center and Downtown. And, despite the busy setting, the hotel was pretty quiet.
The best thing about this hotel, and in fact the main reason why we chose it, is the price! Oh, and the free parking.

More
The College Inn is considered a "European-Style Hotel" Built for the 1909 Alaska-Yukon Exposition, the College Inn stands amidst Seattle's University District. It is right across the street from the University of Washington. Nearby is "The Ave" - a street lined with many cheap international cuisine restaurants and shops. The buslines to downtown and the rest of Seattle are also within a stone's throw. It is approximately a 10 minute bus ride to the center of downtown. The inn has 27 guest rooms, each with sink and mirror. Bathrooms/showers are communal. On the 4th floor is a guest lounge where breakfast is served every morning. Directly downstairs from the inn, there is the Cafe Allegro, a quaint coffee shop. In the basement, the College Inn Pub thrives with a crowd of college kids and young professionals. Don't worry, because the pub is housed in the basement, the sounds will not travel up to the guest rooms.

You can usually get a Red Lion hotel room on the 99 stip for a little cheaper than the other hotels. This Red Lion has been recently remodeled, and they have adjoining rooms (a hotel rarity these days!), if you have a party that would like it. If you're traveling to Seattle, consider staying here; great hot tub, good service, and if you go by hwy 518 and 509, you're only 20-30 minutes from downtown - that may sound like a lot, but it's not.

The Silver Cloud Inn on Lake Union offers stunning view of the lake and downtown, as well as proximity to Eastlake, UW, Capital Hill, City Center and other neighborhoods and points of interest.
There are Silver Cloud Inns in locations all over Washington and Oregon, and all seem to be consistently clean, comfortable, amenity-ed (sic) and reasonably priced.
If you live in the city, your place is probably too small for your in-laws anyway.

Well, I'm pretty sure cheap and good night are not correlated. Normally when we have folks coming into town, we have them stay at the Hilton.
By the way, I get a good nights sleep with a sleep mask, ear plugs and a pair of Benadryl. As a road warrior, you have to have the right tools!

I made the unfortunate choice of staying here one night. I wanted to save a little cash and thought it would be close to work and reasonable for a night or two until my apartment was ready.
Well it was a poor choice. Even for a cheap motel it was GROSS!! I was there three nights and on the first night I noticed that my "shower" which was a glorified tin can, was leaking water all over the place. By day two the room was about an inch deep in water and smelled like mildew. Well I had already paid and they didn't have any other rooms so I was forced to stay there.
The hotel is very shady and right on Aurora so there is a lot of prostitution, drug dealing and otherwise less than desirable stuff going on in front of the place. The staff is nice enough, even if they aren't very responsive or understanding. The rates are very cheap and the rooms are a decent size.
Furnishings on the other hand are Goodwill hand me downs and not worth calling "beds". If this is the last resort in your world, then do it. Otherwise go somewhere safer and cleaner like La Hacienda on First in SODO.

More
For our big night away from the kids, we stayed at the Roosevelt Hotel which is located right by Pacific Place in downtown Seattle. My husband and I figured we couldn't go wrong with a centrally located smallish hotel. Well, we were sort of right and sort of wrong.
Pros:
1. Location! It's centrally located to good restaurants and movie theatres. Since we were going to go to both, this was important to us.
2. Clean establishment. The downstairs lobby was clean and well set up. The room was clean if a little sterile. The bed was comfy as well.
Cons:
1. Service was not speedy. For the price we paid, I expected a little better service. It took about an hour to get our small suitcase up to our room. The front desk people were not overly friendly either. They also took a long time to get our car out of valet, they had the wrong number but instead of coming back to check, they went to their little office and my husband had to go track them down.
2. The bathroom was falling apart. Specifically, the tiles around the big jetted tub were falling apart. There was black stains all around the tub. It just wasn't pretty! I would think that if you are paying a higher price for a suite with a jetted tub, you should at least have a pretty tub!
So.depending on what you are looking for in a hotel, the Roosevelt may or may not be what you are looking for! Easy access to downtown, check! The amenities that make a hotel stay special, find somewhere else!

I stayed at the Mediterranean Inn on a hot July night - only to discover that it has no air conditioning and no cable TV! That's right, I was left to sweat on the (hard, uncomfortable) bed, with a strange fan oscillating by the window, and no television reception. So, it was relatively cheap, but it wasn't that great.
