What they have done, just with wood, in the lobby, creates something beautiful than most places many people will ever visit. The bathrooms are nice enough to make one's home -- though albeit not if their present use were to be maintained. Their tea room has ceilings that must be at least 18' and is a great place to have tea after surviving some extremely difficult time in one's life, because everything is so perfect and beautiful. This is the point at which most people's money may run out.... But go, just to verify that it's real.

You never quite know what you're going to get with a Hyatt. They run the gamut from icky airport properties, to 5 star beachfront luxury. You just never know. Happily, the Elliot Grand Hyatt is closer to the latter, minus the beachfront. It's in a great location - 7th and Pine, across from Pacific Place and in the heart of the shopping district. The rooms are nicely decorated and comfy and the restaurant - Ruth's Chris - is outstanding.

I have stayed at the Best Western Pioneer Square Hotel recently, as that is where our company put us up on a recent trip to Seattle. It was located near the conference rooms, as well as close to many other areas you may want to see.
The hotel itself is really nice. The rooms are very comfortable, and they come with the little extras, like the ironing board and coffee pot in every room. I loved the decorating, which went with the historic area of Seattle where the hotel is located.
As I'm not from Seattle, I would read the answers from those folks who are, about the safety issues. My co-workers and I did not experience any problems at all, and we had quite an exciting experience, even though we were there to work.

My 70 year-old parents have made the Watertown their primary place to stay when they come from out of town to visit our family. While I think it's really classified as a "Business Hotel", it borders on "Boutique". The building is newly constructed with great modern touches. The rooms are well insulated (for sound) and super clean. My folks love the simple breakfast in the lounge - fresh fruit, cereals, etc.. and they offer wine in the evening. The staff bake chocolate chip cookies all afternoon. Free bikes are available as well - you're only two blocks from the Burke Gilman trail. It's definately the best hotel near the UW.
Overall, it's the amenities and little touches that add up at the Watertown. Well worth it.

I prefer to stay in a Bed and Breakfast or hostel. Large commercial hotels are so impersonal, really. There's no better vibe than a hostel or B&B. If you can get past the societal norms and brainwashing, you'll find peace and tranquility. Just a great way to meet people from all over ! They play a movie a few nights a week, they have online access, and serve breakfast in the morning. Not a rinky dink one either. I've seen 'continental' by it's simplest description to be called a "continental brakfast" ie. Coffee, fruit bar, and honestly, I think that was it. It's definately worth the money you pay to stay there. Again, good vibes!

I always recommend the Silver Cloud Inn to out-of-town travelers. There are many locations in the Puget Sound. The University one is where my friends and bridal party stayed and we all enjoyed our experience here. It's within walking distance to U-Village, there is a shuttle service to take you to nearby destinations, and they serve a decent breakfast. For the amenities provided, you can't beat the price. Also staying in University Village or even off Broadway is a nice alternative to staying downtown.

Just the fact that there are no other reviews of this hotel tells me that the secret is still safe. The Vintage Park is a true gem among a lot of bigger, flashier downtown hotels. The lobby is small and cozy, but nicely welcoming with a warm fireplace and comfy couches. The entire hotel has been recently renovated and it shows - the rooms are decorated with a Tuscan flair, and although some are on the small side, they're welcoming and beautiful.
I had an occassion to attend an event held in the Presidential Suite - and let me tell you, THAT is one gorgeous place. I could be talked into living there permanently quite easily.
If you stay here, don't miss the restaurant - Tulio's, it's exquisite. (See my seperate review.)

I am hosting my wedding here in December. I have been planning for about a year and it has been a great experience. I have been to the hotel on several occasions. The rooms are beautiful, the staff is always friendly (everyone from the valet to the front desk to the waitstaff in the bar), and the hotel itself is gorgeous. It is not in the heart of downtown (as far as walking distance from most sights) but the hotel provides complimentary towncar service for all guests. As far as special events are concerned they have taken great care of us. The Top of the Town and Penthouse Suite (where my wedding will be held) has a beautiful view of the skyline. The coordinator has gone above and beyond to make sure my event is just what I imagined it would be. I am truly pleased and would recommend the hotel to anyone!
