I stayed at the Silver Cloud over by University Village recently and will not stay there again, nor will I recommend it to friends or family. The hotel was nice when it first opened, but it has gone downhill. The check-in clerk was a dense, yet over-confident seattlitey, you know the type, a sort of phony sophistication, annoying and laughable at the same time. All I wanted was a room, and some rest, this guy dragged out the check-in process to the point of my exasperation. The room had several appliance problems, though it was clean. Then they over charged me. I paid for a crumby room what I would have paid for something nice, with hospitality and conscious design, the Silver Cloud had neither. Pros: None Cons: Gone downhill

I always recommend the Silver Cloud Inn to out-of-town travelers. There are many locations in the Puget Sound. The University one is where my friends and bridal party stayed and we all enjoyed our experience here. It's within walking distance to U-Village, there is a shuttle service to take you to nearby destinations, and they serve a decent breakfast. For the amenities provided, you can't beat the price. Also staying in University Village or even off Broadway is a nice alternative to staying downtown.
