I checked into the Moore Hotel last night for a conference and left my toiletries on the sink. When I came back this evening, the items were gone. After a half hour, the desk clerk got ahold of the housekeeping supervisor and she told him that the items were in my medicine cabinet. Why didn't the maid tell me she had moved my things? I thought she had stolen or discarded them. To me, that's as bad as stealing. AVOID. If you want a cheap hotel in Seattle, try the Everspring Inn on Aurora. Pros: location, price Cons: Service (maids hid my toiletries, last time I was there - no hot water.)

I had trouble finding specific details of what rooms at The Moore included, so I wanted to elaborate. We booked suite 705 for just over $100 per night. The kitchenette included: coffemaker (coffee was provided, but I'd reccomend going out for coffee or buying your own), 2-eye range, sink, mini fridge, table for 2, love seat and coffee table. The bedroom was separated by a doorway (not an actual door). Included were: very comfy queen sized bed, one nightstand, TV (cable too!), small dresser, and a good-sized walk-in closet with several hangers. The room DID NOT have an alarm clock (luckily, my cell phone has one). The attached private bathroom had an old-fashioned claw-foot tub ( with shower curatins all around), pedistal sink, medicine cabinet, hairdryer and toilet. There was little space for storage of toiletries in the bathroom. Floors 3, 6, and 7 have been remodeled and have very nice-looking decor. Floors 2, 4, and 5 look dark and uninviting. rooms ending in 01-05 do not face the water and are advertised as "quiet rooms." believe me, the street behind the Moore has just as many sirens going by at 3 a.m. as the street in front has. Just bring earplugs. Rooms ending in 06-16 are on the south end of the hotel furthest from the Moore Theater (which can be noisy) and face Puget Sound. rooms ending in 17 and above also face the water but are closer to the noise of the theater. Keep in mind there is no AC here and when the weather is nice you'll want your windows open. Pros: Location Cons: no frills

I'm from Sydney, Australia, I viisted Seattle twice and in both occasions I stayed at the Moore Hotel, if I come back, and I definitely will again as Seattle is one of my favourite cities in North America, the Moore is where I'd like to stay again, the location is perfect, the staff is very friendly, to me anyway, the rooms are basic but comfortable and clean and in both ocasions I was given rooms with nice views of the water, a bonus, and yes, you can't beat the price.

My boyfriend had stayed at the Moore Hotel 6 years ago on a cross-country trip, so when he suggested that we stay there on our recent trip to Seattle, I let him take care of our vacation plans. We took public transit ( MT194 / $1.25) from SEATAC, which lets you off 3 blocks from the hotel - an easy walk. This place is fantastic for the money if you don't require a lot of "extras." They offer shared and private baths (the private baths go pretty quickly), and we tried out each. Even the shared bath option gives you a sink in your room. The hotel feels much like a hostel at first - it's old and not in the best visual condition, the hallways are a little dark, the elevator only holds a couple of people, and the doors to the rooms require *gasp* actual KEYS! The neighborhood is a little gritty, but we never felt unsafe at any time. It is a highly trafficked area, so you're seldom wandering about by yourself. It's a pretty bare bones setup, but everything was super clean, functional, we had a fantastic view of the water, and the building is constructed like a prison (thick plaster walls), so we never heard a peep from our neighbors. The close proximity to just about everything is amazing - we walked to Pioneer Square (~25 minutes), Safeco Park (~35 minutes), Pike Place Market (less than 5 minutes), and took a quick bus ride over to the Seattle Center. This place is central to everything you'll need to explore Seattle efficiently and thoroughly. If you're into fancypants-type accomodations and need a lot of catering to, this place is not for you. There are no clocks in the room, no pictures on the wall, you may/may not get a mirror in your room, but the place is well worth the money that you'll save, and the service that we received from everyone working there was 5-star. They definitely have a lifelong customer in my guy and myself. Pros: Great value; walking distance to almost everything Seattle Cons: Limited in-room amenities (clocks, etc.)

We recently stayed at the Moore on recommendations I read here & I'm sorry but I just don't get it. Our primary issue was no heat. There was a radiator in the room but no means of turning it on. We called down to the front desk and were told that the heat is on a timer & we couldn't control it but it was due to come on at 8p. The person at the front desk said that most guests complain because it gets too hot. At 10p-still no heat. Apparently the maintenance guy was handling a family emergency so there wasn't anything they could/would do except offer us the one remaining room. Unfortunately when we checked out that room there was no heat there either & it was an even more depressing room than the one we were already in. But putting aside the lack of heat, which I assume was a temporary problem, there were still absolutely no amenities...no phone book, no clock, no hangers in the closet. Frustratingly the sheets were too small for the bed so we fought that all night & every time I woke up I was on bare mattress. Also, there were events in the theatre both nights we stayed and it was so incredibly loud. One night it was a comedienne and we listened to raucous laughter until 11pm. The next night it was a concert and the walls literally vibrated to the point that the headboard, which was attached to the wall, was banging. It certainly is not what I would consider romantic by any stretch of the imagination. We were on the 4th floor so maybe that was part of the problem. It seems that those reviewers who gave this hotel positive reviews make reference to the higher floors so if you are going to give this a shot, be sure to ask for a higher floor. I will concede that the location is terrific (we could see the Space Needle from our window) & the rate was very low...we paid about $90 a night which is unheard of for that area of the city but in future I would gladly pay more for a nicer room. Pros: location, price Cons: lack of amenities, NOISY, funky heat, parking

Robert, the employee at the front desk, was the rudest person I have ever encountered in any service position. We were in Seattle for the weekend scouting locations for an upcoming televsion series and decided to stay at this funky hotel. The hotel room was great, minus a small problem, but Robert at the front desk was beyond rude. With comments like "I am not here to accomodate you" and "you don't like it, go find another hotel" I am truly embarassed for the owners and managers of The Moore. I will discourage any and everyone I know from staying there and will encourage City Search to drop them from thier listing.
