After I moved to West Seattle from California, I started bringing my two cats here on a coupon. We have seen most of the vets here, but in particular Dr. Johnson and Dr. Quincy. They are gentle and thorough and always take time to answer questions, explain options and treatments, and I have found them helpful in giving price estimates for planning out my cats' health care. Staff are caring too. They have people that come in for some specialized things like ultrasounds and cardiology, and refer out for more complex operations. I finally lost my two old kitties, and one of them I had put to sleep here. They were very compassionate, explained everything, and gave us plenty of time alone to say goodbye. They have also been very helpful assessing and treating my new shelter & rescue kitties who all had different problems when they came to me. Once or twice I have felt an individual missed something or I disagreed with a charge, but this has been more than compensated for by their long-term competence, caring and flexibility. If your medications are not time-urgent, check whether you can buy from Amazon, or even Costco or a drugstore, as most vets are pricier to buy medication from. If $ is not an issue and convenience is, buy here and help support the great vets, staff, and nice facilities, all of which cost $! If you haven't been to them before, check out the coupon for a free first exam in the coupon book "The Best OF Alki/West Seattle."

I originally went to the UW sleep center after researching sleep doctors online. I went there for the original consult and met with a nurse. She had me watch a video, answered a few questions and then scheduled me for a sleep study.
The study.
The rooms are not comfortable, there is a helicopter that takes off on the other side of the wall, and sheets are motel 6. I also had the experience of having multiple researcher students come in and for questions etc.- it is a research facility after all.
After the study. I heard nothing from neither a doctor nor a nurse. I finally received a call from a scheduling agent telling me to come in to get fitted for a cpap.
At this point I scheduled an appointment with another sleep doctor at another facility- one where I could actually speak to a doctor.

I've been taking my pets there for a couple years and I always feel like I get caring, attentive care for them. I especially like Dr. Mentzer. And the vet techs are really caring and professional. They all seem to really care about animals.

Patient and understanding staff, as some have sailed the same boat that you or ME are in now. When we go to detox or impatient treatment they see us as humans in need of help. You might not see that at first, but will understand in a short amount of time. The food isn't great, but I guess diet is important for recovery.
If you smoke you should bring your own as (donation tobacco is rare). Good Luck.

My wife and I have gone through about 5 different vet offices from West Seattle to Ballard over the past 15 yrs. Ended up at QA Animal Clinic and have been with them for the past 5 yrs. Plan to stay with them too! Sure we've gone to places that charges less. And places that charged more. In fact with one place that charged less, what started as a routine checkup ended up with us having to put our cat down. We should've known. They were cheaper. They were faster. But faster ended up costing the life of our cat. Just as I'd never take my car into a Jiffy Lube. My pets are too important to me. Never again!
At QA Animal Clinic, as many of the reviews have noted, they are super friendly people and we definitely get the warm and fussy from them. Their waiting area is small but they get us into a room fairly quickly so I have not had to wait with more than 1 other pet owner at a time. No, they are not the cheapest but you know what, they are not pushy like other vets either. e.g. for my older cats, other vets kept warning me about how the kidney disease will shorten the life of my cat and so we need to do all these procedures on a monthly basis and we need to feed them this prescription diet... etc. (we've had older cats died from this before so we know) Sure QA offered the same stuff but they also offered alternatives. We only visit on an annual basis. My cat's kidney was stable. And we made our own kidney food for many years (way cheaper and all organic unlike these chemical foods). When it did come time for our old buddy at the ripe old age of 17 to pass, the whole place was there for us. Our vet (Dr. Westerdahl) let us say goodbye for as long as we need. We had friends come down to say their goodbyes too. The dr told the office staff to go but they all stayed, an hour after closing. They all loved our cat too. When we were done, we signed the cremation papers and they sent us home. Telling us not to worry about the bill til next week. They have been the best and we'll continue to bring them our cats.

I have cared for a number of hamsters, and two guinea pigs, mostly foster/adopt from the animal shelter. When they need care, or end-of-life assistance, I have brought them to the Phinney Ridge Animal Hospital. The staff is kind, smart, and caring. I highly recommend them for your little pets!

As a parent I felt instantly comfortable walking into the lobby space as there are toys and things for children to occupy themselves. The space was clean and open. My time with Howard was comfortable and I wish I could meet with him twice a week!. His office is warm and cozy.
