Having asthma my whole life and going to the emergency room quite a few times in my life for having asthma attacks that get out of control, I've become a master at how it all works. NO ONE seemed to know what they were doing. They had to stab me with needles like 4 times because the nurses weren't communicating with each other (i only needed one). It took them FOREVER to finally get me to a stable state. Then i got a room, but after like 4 hours they completely took me of my drip and my oxygen. After that i just sat there for about 8 hours with the only medicine there giving me is a nebuliser which i can do at home myself, and they even forgot about me so i had to call the nurse and remind them to give it to me! So finally after sitting there for about 8 hours getting no help and when i did ask for help not a single nurse i had some English clearly enough to understand what i was saying, i told them i wanted to go. I was starving thanks to them messing up EVERY meal i had that day, and pissed because i was just sitting there. So after an hour and a half of waiting to see my main nurse (she also forgot about me) i told her i was leaving weather or not they were letting me go. So i signed a release and left and will NEVER go back there. Everyone I've talked to about NW agrees with me that this hospital is a joke. I'll stick with Swedish from now on!

After my injury today, I want to work there myself!! One problem - I'm not in medicine. You see - this evening, I stepped on an old rusty nail in my front yard - looks like it'd been there since it was built 30 years ago! I couldn't pull it out or let anyone else touch the flip-flop that was nailed there, so, we went to the doctor, who then referred us to Northwest. They all seemed to be having so much fun!! They were so efficient and had me in and out quicker than I've ever been in an emergency room (okay, so I'm unlucky). Usually emergency rooms are a 3-4 hour event, even if you're loosing a limb, and I was only there for 2 total! I'll never go anywhere else...just had to rave.

I'd heard really good things about Northwest Hospital. I had a planned c-section and ended up going in at a very busy time. The two wings were full of laboring moms. The temperature of the place was wacky and they had building maintenance trying to figure it out. It was uncomfortable. I was housed in the old wing. I think the new wing would have been more pleasant. I had mixed experiences with the nurses. Some were really nice and some seemed not to want to be bothered (perhaps because it was a busy weekend and they were too busy with other patients?) I went home after 1 night in hospital as it was uncomfortable for both me and my husband. I didn't have a remote control for the tv because it was lost. I'd probably go there again, but hope it is less busy.
