I think that this bedbathandbeyond is a pretty good store. I have gotten many items such as chairs, linens, towels, and posters for a very good price. The downtown location is pretty convienent and their selection is pretty good. I especially like the fact that the store is two floors..which means more shopping and more deals. The service people are very helpful.
Pros: Good prices, nice salespeople, good shopping

Be careful when you step into Laguna, there are pots and plates everywhere. I don't know where they find all the vintage and retro pottery they have, but it's the place to go to replace a broken or missing piece if you have an older set. Be sure to check out the chip/crack room. You'll find crazy prices on cracked or chipped pottery that make great vases or accent pieces.

I think this store is great! If you need anything for your home like bedding, towels, kitchen gadgets, candles, slipcovers, then this is the place to go. They have so many choices of each item that there's bound to be something you'll like. Its close to the mall and all the other shopping in Tukwila too. Not enough help though, you have to wait in line usually.
PROS: Huge selection.
CONS: Parking lot is small and crowded.

The previous owner of our home used these guys and they did an excellent job. I hesitated giving a perfect 5 stars because I didn't use them personally but I have heard nothing but good things. We have a 1905 Craftsman in Madrona and are reaping the benefits of thoughtful and complimentary design. They gutted the upstairs and opened up the low ceilings and exposed some of the original beams. It created these incredible angles which are remarkably aesthetic. They opened up the downstairs by combining rooms and remodeling the kitchen. Whenever original work could be salvaged it was. There is a great compliment between modern and very old. John Fleming was responsible for designing our home.

Fremont has so many cute stores, it's hard to choose! If you have limited time to shop or it's just not your favorite thing to do, but need to find a gift or treat yourself, definitely go to Burnt Sugar. The store is filled with lovely items from artsy notebooks, specialty make-up, unique housewares, lovely leather wallets (on sale!) to SHOES ...also on sale! The Men's selection is really good although unfortunately they are thinking of no longer carrying men's shoes (on sale)! The Women's selection is great! Most of the summery styles are on sale. And if you are thinking ahead to fall, there are some fine boots....
Burnt Sugar is easy to find, it's the store with the
coin-op rocket on the corner!

I bought a Caldera hot tub from Richs and I love it. It's so comfortable and I have hardly noticed any increase on my PSE bill. I also got my woodstove from Rich's and it has saved me a ton of money on my heating bill. You guys are great!

I took my husband there for our anniversary... thought it would be something new, fun, creative AND we get to eat our work! Not the case. I signed us up for the Turkish Cooking Class. The chef was wonderfully kind and warm, but all her special ingredients were brought back from her annual visits to Turkey. Key ingredients we can't get here in America, and items she admitted she can't find in specialty stores either. So how do we recreate these recipes at home? We have to "search on websites to find the spices"...
It wasn't as hands-on as I expected. Cooks World has the kind of kitchen your mom has, and room behind the stove for one, two tops. We sat at tables and watched her prepare us (small) samples for three hours. Sensing boredom, the staff nudged participation, but I know how to cut a zucchini. The food was great, but we really should have had dinner before we arrived.
My poor husband asked if we could go to D*ck's Drive-In for a burger after we left. :( This would be the kind of place I'd go with a friend - but NOT for a special occasion. Over priced for the amount of food you get, and the lack of hands-on participation. I spent $125 for 1/4 cup of soup, two small meatballs, 1/4 cup of lamb stew and a sweet cream-of-wheat dessert. :(
Pros: Super friendly chef...
Cons: See laundry list above....

I've always found a good selection of shoes, socks, underwear, etc. at JC Penney's. The shoe department is set up for self-browsing, but the staff is also very friendly about helping you find the right shoe and right size. I don't think they're on commission, which in my mind helps -- unless it's as a group. Often, I've had several staff members bring me selection.
I also like some of their clothing, jewelry, towels, bedding and rugs and I even got a lamp on sale for a good price.
