My husband and I have visited the Cafe a few times over the years, and I have to say, it has only got better with age. On our last visit there for dinner we were warmly greeted at the door, with the server taking our coats and welcoming us as if we were old friends. We were shown to our table and quickly offered drinks, which we decided would be some wine. They have a great wine list and as a wine lover I can tell you, they have some real values on the list if you know what to look for.
I have always enjoyed the food there, but I was so impressed by our food this time. There is a new chef and he is really doing a great job with the menu. My husbands cassoulet was probably the best version of the dish we have ever had--including one we had in France! The frites were just perfect too--what a combination! The desserts we had were delicious, I had a chocolate cake and he had Ice cream, and both were so good we were stealing from eachothers plates. We had a great dinner and will definately be back for more!
Pros: great food and service
Cons: an a busy night you better have reservations

Awesome food , large portion sizes , great presentation , fabulous Rum bar , make reservations. That being said , I was looking for a place that was within my budget. And this place fit the bill! The first time I went I was overwhelmed by the amount of food you get for the price. The waiters/waitresses were attentive without being obnoxious. I go there quite often with friends and on dates. It's a great place to have dinner before heading over to Jazz Alley. I have only had one bad experience where the wait staff were virtually none existant. That evening just to get a drink we had to practically get out of our seats to ask for one. And the place was not busy....so go figure. I do recommend reservations on Friday or Saturday night if you are going to be having dinner. And the Rum bar is small and gets packed fairly early , so be prepared for standing room only. Needless to say it's one of my favorite places in Belltown.
Pros: Great food and drinks
Cons: No parking

If you are looking for an authentic Greek taverna experience in Seattle, Panos Kleftiko is the closest thing. The atmosphere is warm and cosy with tables very close to each other, pictures and decorations on the walls, good Greek music, and a relaxed and friendly staff. Panos, the owner, is there every night and frequently sits down to chat with the guests and make sure they know what's good that day.
But what makes the place really great is the food. The gigantes yahni (lima beans) are delicious, as is the Greek salad and the lamb dishes. The taramosalata (egg roe salad) melitzanosalata (eggplant salad) and tirokafteri (spicy cheese spread), spread on authentic Greek pitta bread are fantastic.
The one thing to know before you go is that many of the dishes have a lot of garlic. I personally like that a lot, but you will have to watch it after you leave or the morning after - one trick that works well for me is eat some fresh parsley after dinner, it does wonders.
Pros: Authentic food and atmosphere
Cons: Must love garlic

I visited Chez Gaudy for the first time on a Saturday night a few weeks back. My girlfriend and I spotted the tiny sign sticking out from an apartment building at the corner of E Howell St and Bellevue Ave in Capitol Hill. The adventure continued as we found the entrance and wove through the restaurant to find the hostess. Our table was in the corner of a small alcove with dim red lighting, eclectic art, and a strange but fun mix of Jack Johnson, Michael Jackson, and many other mainstream artists. The menu is the perfect length with a handful of selections available each for "social boards," appetizers, main entrees and desserts. The cocktails are fantastic, and the while the wine list is somewhat limited, it fit my personal tastes anyway. I ended up ordering a fantastic flat bread pizza to start, which had pesto, kalamata olives, and parmesan. Following was an equally delicious Ete'Vita, which included a portobello mushroom in balsamic with chicken breast, goat cheese, and sauteed spinach. Even though I was full, I pushed my luck and got dessert, which turned out to be a good decision. Overall, I highly recommend the place. The service was great, and atmosphere was intimate yet fun, and the food was hard to beat. If you're looking for adventure, fun, and great food, give it a shot.
Pros: Food, atmosphere... did I say food?
Cons: Hard to find your way in at first

The food at Kwanjai Thai is fantastic. It is the best tasting Thai with the freshest vegetables and sauces that are made daily and so get spicier as the night goes on. It's fast, reasonably priced and the portions are huge. I get two to three meals out of one order of phad thai. The service is wondeful - they are the sweetest people. They always remember me and the often give me little treats from their own kitchens. I admit I sometimes have trouble with their accents but these people are so good at what they do I don't really care what they are saying to me!!!

it's true, the tortillas here are awesome! el puerco lloron is an amazing, casual mexican joint right near the pike place market. some might say it's tricky to find, but not really. it's on the hillclimb beneath the market. basically, just go down the stairs right by the golden pig in the market and keep going down (cross western). it's worth the search! el puerco is not open late - come before 7 sun-thur, 8 on fri & sat. ps - all dishes are under $8 - what a steal!
Pros: homemade tortillas!

My friends and I are definitely food critics- we look down on (most) chains and make fun of people who like them. We like really good food. This is our favorite place for burgers in Seattle. I always split one with someone, they are huge but absolutely delicious. So many options, and all of them that I've tried, I have loved. All of the options are high quality choices and prepared great everytime. These burgers aren't cooked all the way through and brown throughout like lots of other places; there was definitely thought with each burger. The sides are great and definitely try a milkshake; they're not your typical milkshake. This is a great Saturday hangover lunch.
Pros: BEST BURGERS
Cons: Upgrade to a larger space, please!

I was reading a nasty review that someone wrote about the Madison Essential Baking company and I strongly disagree. I go there everyday and get coffee in the morning and lunch in the afternoon. I have never had someone be rude to me and the food is great. I know they just raised the prices but if it's too high, then don't go. I have been to many cafes in Seattle and have spent more then $17.00 for a bowl of soup, sandwich and soda. We do live in Seattle....and it is a bit spendy here! Have you seen the housing market?
This person clearly has issues...are you really upset with The Essential Baking Co. or with yourself? I suggest you breath!!
I love this place and stand by it. They have great people working there and great food! I highly recommend it!
Have a good day everyone!!
Pros: Cute, good food, good music, happy place to be.
