Dr. Killian has been my primary care provider for the past few years. I enjoy my rapport with him and the office staff and feel comfortable and open in discussing any health concerns I have. He makes good recommendations if a specialist is needed. The only downside is that sometimes appointments can feel a little rushed. But, his professional manner and and great to my office win out.

Despite Dr. Johnson saying things like "you're a super duper patient" and many other hokey things, we have been pleased with his work. Despite him having a really brutal dental hygienist, we return. We've been going to Dr. Johnson for about 12 years and he has always served us well. They are located in the Medical Dental Building which is smack in the middle of downtown, so if I have some extra time before or after appointments, I can do a little shopping at Nordstrom. They validate parking and you can either park at the Medical Dental Building (blah) or across the street at Pacific Place (yeah). I think he may be a bit more expensive than other dentists but I have never had a complaint about the quality of his work.

Deep in the Pike Place Market there's an herbal apothecary. It's kind of nice that's it's hidden away (less crowds). They offer tarot card reading sometimes which can impress your out of town guests. But generally it's got the typical new agey, alternative health, incense supplies. Lots of dried herbs and teas.

When I first heard about Bikram (heated) Yoga, I thought, "YEAH RIGHT!!!" then I tried it.
Let me tell you.... I am an easily 'stressed' person, I have had insomnia, and I have a short temper. Since going to Bikram, I sleep more soundly, I am more relaxed and I have learned to let go.
I know yoga is not a cure all, but it sure worked for me and it made me feel a whole letter better about myself. The Bikram class is about mental agility and endurance- you will probably notice more of an emotional change then a physical. The Power Yoga (Vinyasa Class) is EXCELLENT, probably the best in West Seattle (and I have gone every where in the past seven years). It has given me strength and muscles that I never even knew I had. If you like yoga, you will appreciate both classes. Heck, I even took my rock climbing anti-yoga boyfriend and he liked it.

I thought that they would be bad because of the cheap prices, however in the end they made my teeth look great. They made them go from yellow to white, from sharp to smooth, and from disaligned to perfectly straight. I think they are great with kids also, so I would recommend them.

This safeway near the Ave was a place I used to go for groceries all the time. Every other week if not every week. It is generally speaking a nice place to shop. There was a man selling 'Real Change', some sort of newpaper all the time, which was a little annoying. However, I had a pretty bad experience once. The other day I parked the car in the parking lot on the south side. I thought I'd go deposit my checks in a nearby bank of America first and then went for my grocery shopping. But while I walked back, passing my car, I saw a ticket. The reason was 'walk off'. I got pretty upset. So I can only park there while shopping? Don't want to shop there ever again.

More
Call Vern at Altman Insurance in Olympia. If you are a generally healthy 20-40 something, you may qualify for a "catastrophic" health plan for under $60 a month. It's pretty no frills, but a low price to pay for not being in debt for the rest of your life if you fall off that mountain bike!!! And the good news is, unlike Basic Health, because its not high hassle managed care, most doctors' offices take it.
Then, with all the money you save, go find yourself an awesome family doctor at www.vantagephysicians.net!

Vitamin Shoppe, while a nationwide chain did not have an outpost in Seattle until recently. There new store, located in Tukwila by Southcenter Mall, has all the vitaminshoppe prerequisites. Smiling employees who try to act like they have a degree in medicine but don't and a great supply of vitamins, oils, muscle building formulas, etc that may or may not help you. There is a wide selection of brands for each type of vitamin and the discounts are decent. They also have a buyers club that will give you money back once you have spent one hundred dollars. If you are living in Seattle I would stick with Seattle Super Supplements but if you are in the south end stop by Vitamin Shoppe.

My appt. was at 4:30. I was told to "arrive early" for paperwork. I was finally taken back to a room at 5:15. At 6:00 Dr. Robertson strolled in. He saw me for 6 min. Then his office tried to charge me $100 more than they originally told me the appt. would cost. I told them what they could do with their bill. Bottom line, he is always late, always has been, always will be. If you schedule an appt., bring a thick book...
