I found Studio Evolve by accident (after reading poor reviews for another studio that I was considering) and have been extremely pleased. I see Joanna and Sophia weekly for mat and reformer classes. While completely different instruction, both instructors are knowledgeable about the body and Pilates techniques, passionate about what they do, and a joy to spend time with. Most importantly, I feel better than I have for years. I look forward to working with instructors at Studio Evolve as I fight sliding into into old age! Pros: Pilates, mat and reformer, that will change your life

The instructors at Studio Evolve help each individual to be his or her best. They tailor the workout to your specific needs. They are also very attuned to showing you the correct technique for each exercise and quite resourceful when it comes to determing the best cues for keeping you on track. The studio is modern, spacious, comfortable and environmentally friendly too. Prices are reasonable too!

I have been taking Pilates from Studio Evolve Co-Owner Adrin Stauffer for nearly four years now. Adrin is a fantastic teacher, demonstrating the exercises herself to show me the proper form, as well as finding just the right descriptive words to tell me what I should be feeling when I try them myself. She is always warm and welcoming and concerned not only about what is going on with my body, but what is happening in my life. Am I particularly stressed this week? How's my energy? She also excels at varying my workout routine so that I never become bored. I followed her to several different Pilates studios before she and Martine opened Studio Evolve. I am so thrilled that they now have this wonderful place of their own! If you haven't seen Studio Evolve yet, you should definitely go and check it out. Their space is beautiful. The high ceilings and open floorplan make it seem luxuriously spacious, while the warm and natural color scheme makes it feel cozy and inviting. They made a particular point of using only "green" building materials in the construction, which I appreciate. They have four reformers and two "Cadillacs" (specialized Pilates apparatus for those who don't know what I'm talking about), so there's plenty of workout space for everyone. There's a private room available too, for new mothers or anyone who feels a little more self-conscious. Pilates has made me stronger and more flexible, and also helps to relieve the tensions brought on by everyday life. I met with Adrin throughout my second pregnancy and was amazed at how much I was able to do (even with my big belly) and at how much more quickly I was able to get back into shape after giving birth, compared to my first pregnancy. I would recommend it to anyone. Oh, I've also been lucky enough to have had a few massages with Mish Curtis, who has a private room at Studio Evolve. She's WONDERFUL. Really strong hands and an intuitve sense of which parts of my body needed attention. Pros: Experienced, warm instructors. Beautiful, comfortable space. Cons: If the spaces out front are all taken, finding parking can take a bit longer.

Atop the Wallingford Steps at 34th Street, tucked beneath a new condo, rests Studio Evolve -- the new Pilates haven. As someone who has previously enjoyed Pilates, my goal was to find an inviting studio staffed with well-trained, intuitive experts. Finding an inviting establishment was an interesting exercise in and of itself. Before discovering Studio Evolve, I looked into more pretentious places on Capital Hill and upper Queen Anne. I figured, if it's good enough for ballerinas and fitness trend-a-holics, then it's good enough for me. But those places lacked something. A welcoming vibe, perhaps? At Studio Evolve, owner Adrin Stauffer and Martine Dedek offer personalized programs and workshops that work with your body. It's not about you passively doing some exercise. It's about your body flowing beyond its limitations with the help of a caring staff that utilize proven techniques including Pilates, massage, Yamuna Body Rolling (fun!), and SPRe Bodywork. I know it's easy to be intimidated by things you've never tried. But if you're ready to see amazing changes in your body and shape, then try a class or 1:1 session at Studio Evolve. It's a place that feels like it belongs to us everyday people -- who are looking for core strength and the stretch of our lives. I go twice a week -- and can't wait to get there.

These people communicate in positive, engaging, and clear ways to help clients better visualize the processes they are experiencing. If you want to get fit without pain or anxiety, if you want to work with gifted instructors, if you want to do this in a beautiful as well as functional setting, Studio Evolve is for you, too! I love it!
