In 2007, after my massage therapist noticed a rash on my back, I asked Dr. Mar to look at the rash and he instantly said it was ringworm and prescribed very toxic shampoo and cream to treat it. The shampoo was pure hell since you have to leave it on a minimum of 15 minutes and it's insanely toxic. Dr. Mar suggested I use the shampoo on my head as well as my back since he said ringworm can spread to the scalp. I did that (lost a ton of hair, skin now looks terrible due to how harsh the shampoo was). Went back in a couple weeks and he said I still have the problem and to keep using the shampoo. I did so and was near suicide with how horrible I looked due to the shampoo stripping every natural oil from my skin and scalp, I never wanted to leave the house due to it; was continually worried I would spread the ringworm to myself (other places on my body) or to other people, never touched my husband during this time, constantly washed sheets and clothes. Two weeks later I return to Dr. Mar with the exact same symptoms and same rash and he says I'm fine. I explain nothing has changed and ask if he could at least take a skin sample - he then looks at me like I'm a cook and he barely grazed a Qtip over the affected area and said I was fine. Why he didn't test me like that in first place is beyond me. I called his office to ask if they could refer me to a dermatologist. No reply from doctor despite my calling to ask for this several times. I finally make my own dermatologist appointment. This guy is a great dermatologist so I got lucky. He said I don't have ringworm but he can see the rash I'm talking about and says it's something else that is harmless but can't be treated with that shampoo. So, I suffered horribly for months due to Dr. Mar's incompetence. Stay away! I was told he was a great doctor too so this whole episode really ruined my faith in any doctors. By the way, all this fun started days after I got married, so that started the marriage off on a very wrong foot.
