I love this place. They are a bit pricey on tools and some bulk items, but that's the price to have most everything available under one roof and right in town. Best off fastener selection in the state. Quality products - lots of hardware stores these days cater so much to people who don't really know what they are doing, that they neglect the materials for the tradesman who actually knows a thing or two. If you're the person who has a bit of skill and a specialty need, this is the hardware store for you. Between them and Hardwicks down the road, you'll find what you need without going to home depot.

I have found plumbing supplies, doormats, electrical socket replacements, sandpaper, carpet tape, extension cords, weird sized and shaped screws and bolts, picture hanging hardware, etc.
I most appreciate the small size of the local hardware stores and try to use them whenever I can so they stay in business!

Stone Way Hardware is a convenient store that my husband mostly frequents. I didn't find it very helpful when I've been in by myself. They are not extremely woman friendly...especially if you look like you don't have a clue about what you need...I didn't when I was sent to buy a stud finder. I came home with something that would not really work well on lathe and plaster. My husband likes the store.

There was a time when I was starry-eyed over the orange cavernous warehouses that have come to dominate metro areas. In fact, I thought they would drive all local hardware stores out of business.
I've since come to my senses, and come to really apprecicate the local hardware store - in particular Stoneway Hardware. They have just what you need for, well, your hardware needs. They have had everything I've needed everytime that I've visited.
I've also paid less than I would have at the big orange store. Their prices are competitive, and you can buy small hardware items (screws etc) by the piece rather than in 'packages'.
Now, if they'd just stay open longer... I think they close at 6 or something.
