I stopped in here because of the Ukrainian foodstore which is next door (or actually sort of located in one corner of this store), but it seemed pretty good too. They had a nice little selection of produce with reasonable prices and a few Asian groceries (good for the area, but nothing to compare with the Int'l District); I ended up buying a pack of Turkish/Arabic coffee flavored with cardamom to boil in my ibrik.

This store has everything. Groceries, food bar, great produce, and a fairly good wine selection. I like to shop here if I'm giving a party because you can find unique and hard to find ingredients without having to go to Pike Place and deal with the parking. It's worth the drive out to West Seattle.

Now that the smoking ban has gone into effect in Seattle, I no longer have any gripes about the Gyrocery. They have excellent falafel (and my meat-eating friends enjoy their gyros and other meals made with halal meat); prices range from about $4 for a small meal to $7+ for larger or combination meals. Expect to wait about five minutes for your meal, and they will bring it out to you at your table in back. The seating area features a canopy-covered area with pillows and rugs as well as tables, perfect for lounging with your food or drink.

from the moment I walked in there and the DJ was playing a Mr. Bungle song. It's known as a metal bar and attached to the Vogue, so it's usually a mix of metalheads, goths, and for whatever reason, guys on sport bikes.
One of the best parts of the Juj was the ambience. It was dark (all black walls), smokey, had great art on the walls, and cool glass designs over the bar where there was a shark tank. If you get there too late, its definitely hard to get a seat, but it's not packed like a pioneer square bar, just busy.
The bartenders were quick and poured good drinks. Alas, as far as I know, it has shut down and the bar/staff moved to Neumo's. At least that's what I have heard, haven't been by there in a few months.

Not super impressed with this place but it is conveniently located so I tend to go there fairly frequently. I tend to stick to pre-packaged foods as opposed to deli foods, but that is mainly my own thoughts. This place is always busy so they must be doing something right. It is worth checking out.

I have been getting my annuals at the Red Apple for years and have found the quality to be every bit as good as City People's plants up street. I would say Red Apple is a lot cheaper, but they raised their prices so now it is only somewhat cheaper. However, if you are planning a huge amount of planting, this can make a difference.
Red Apple also occasionally carries perennials, too.
I do not recommend this Red Apple for regular old grocery shopping as it is horrendously expensive.
Note: they are low on annuals now as the planting season has died down. They do have quite a few lavender, however.

This is a great out-of-the-way source of European/Mediterranean groceries at sometimes unbelievable prices! It's sort of a warehouse outlet store located on the south end of town.
One of the best finds here is the feta, available in bulk for incredibly cheap (a little over $3/lb, i think - 1lb minimum) with rustic-tasting Bulgarian and Romanian varieties available.
The're not open late, and not open on weekends, so you might want to check the times before you go.

The Canal Market is great if you're looking to grab what you missed at the grocery store. They have everything from dog food to quick meal ideas to even fleece coats! However, one MUST check the expiration dates, as some products like soda, cookies and chips tend to be past due. Overall, it's a nice convenient store with very friendly service.
