Want the freshest sushi in town? Make it yourself! I've purchased some excellent sashimi-grade Ahi tuna at this fish market. It's priced reasonably, and for no extra charge they gave me a cut from the belly area which is prized for its darker color, deeper flavor, and higher fat content. I haven't bought much else from here, but the selection is pretty good and everything seems very fresh.
Pros: Good selection, fresh fish!
Cons: Prices are always reasonable , but not always the cheapest

I love this place!! I can stand there for awhile and just watch the antics. First time I was there, a HUGE monk fish was on ice and facing the customers with its mouth open. Of course, customers started to crowd around, whispering amongst themselves. An employee was behind the counter, waited for the most opportune time, and pulled back on the fish causing it to move. "AAAHHH!!!" screamed the women. That was my first experience here. Pure entertainment at its finest.
I would buy fish here only to support the business since it is an icon here. Plus, the fish is so fresh.
Perfect rating for entertainment value and fresh fish.

I just love to shop at the Pike Place Fish Market. It's located right through the main entrance to Pike Place Market which is actually quite famous and have been shown on tv and the movies. They sell yellow fin tuna, salmon, halibut, prawns, crab. Everything is fresh and displayed in crushed ice all around the counter. It's a lot of fun to shop there.

This particular fish place in the Pike Place Market is most noteworthy as a tourist attraction that's probably worth visiting even if you aren't buying fish (which is of course very good here too). There is often a crowd of people gathered by their shop watching them throw the big fish through the air to each other. It's an interesting place with friendly staff.

The pike place market is one of Seattle’s landmarks that visitors should make a special trip. During the summer months, it has many produce, flower and crafts to choose from. The market is extremely busy and can well spend an entire day shopping. A must to see is the flying fish guys located in the center area of the market.

This is a nice place in Pike Place Market to bring tourists to. The seafood selection is interesting to browse, and the must-see is the fish throwing show put up by the guys who work there. Since they are at the prime location (just next to the Pike Place pig statue at the entrance), they are guaranteed a crowd. The seafood quality is ok but the price is pretty high.
PROS: fun place to be
CONS: expensive

One of the oldest, if not THE OLDEST, continuously operating public markets in the country, Pike Place is a jumble of fish, produce and flower stalls not to mention craft shops within walking distance to the waterfront. People love to see the fishmongers "throwing" the fish from man to man and the crowd is never disappointed when this show is put on. There are also restaurants if you feel like hanging around for a little while. Pike Place reminds me somewhat of Reading Terminal in Philadelphia, although the setting is quite different! One thing that Pike Place does have is (Rachel?) the life-size brass pig and she alone is worth the treck down to Pike Place. Still, Pike Place is a great sight and you shouldn't miss it. I can't believe I didn't get a postcard of Pike Place Market. If any one has an extra and would like to send me one, I'd greatly appreciate it!!

Best fish market ANYWHERE! This is the place to go not only for the fresh Seattle fish, purchased on the famous Pike St., but you go there for the entertainment! When you first walk up you may notice a crown around what appears to be a typical outdoor seafood market. There is shouting back and forth between the staff as they communicate with one another from across the market. Then you see it - flying fish! Really - the very entertaining staff throws your fresh (maybe slimy?) fish across the market to another staff member who then catches the fish, quickly packages it - shouts again - then throws the fish back. They catch it again with ease and hand you your order!! It is the coolest thing. I lived there quite some time, and still had a blast watching the fish fly across the market, and the exitement from the crowd is just amazing! It's one of the highlights of Seattle's portion of the waterfront!
PROS: Very entertaining!
