When only lemon frosting will do 4/15/2006

Cupcake Royale, with locations in Ballard and Madrona is a great place to pick up a treat for friends or colleagues. The cupcakes are tasty with just the right amount of frosty to cake ratio. While some cupcakes are always available, there are seasonal cupcakes that rotate on and off the menu year round. Extra small cupcakes are also available and decent coffee is served on the premises. Prices are a little high in my opinion but better than the two fifty you would pay for the stale pastry at the Starbucks down the street. more

The cupcakes at Cupcake Royale http://www.cupcakeroyale.com/ are so good! You could get a bunch of different flavors, and even get some mini cupcakes for people who just want a small taste. There is a one on Market Street in Ballard and one in Madrona. more

Gourmet cupcakes - yum! 3/5/2006

This cafe and den of delicious desserts on Market Street is quite unique. They sell cupcakes as a gourmet dessert - rich creamy frostings and moist cake make for possibly the best cupcake you've ever tasted. Each one will run you over $2, but they're an ample size, and the quality definitely warrants the price (just think of those awful supermarket cupcakes that are 6 for $3.99). more

Cupcake Royale is the bomb! 2/27/2006

Kat and Alex turned me on to this place. Oh my lordy. I get so darn excited when I get to go there it's not even funny. Delicous cupcakes made with REAL ingredients. I actually like the Babycakes better than the regular ones, as they are so rich that a lil' dab'll do ya. Yeah, they're not cheap but MY, they're tasty more

I really want to love it, but I don't 1/4/2006

I love the idea of a cupcake place, but the actual cake just doesn't do it for me. I love the graphic design and the stickers are funny and both locations are pretty nice places to hang out, but I want my chocolate to be chocolatey and my frosting to be not to heavy, but not too light. I find the frosting here to be too rich and the chocolate cupcakes lack a really chocolate flavor. Whole Food and Northhill bakery in Capitol Hill have much better cupcakes. more

Cupcake Royale is great- they have cupcakes for every occasion. You can call ahead and order cupcakes to match you shower theme colors or they have great cupcakes already done. They have full size or mini depending on appetites. Prices $1 for mini or $2 for regular size and quantity discounts if you buy a dozen! I used to take 3 buses to get a Cupcake Royale treat until they opened their new world headquarters right in my back yard! Try the new fall flavors. You can't go wrong, and if you are watching your calories, they have baby cakes - perfect mini sized morsels. Don't deny yourself. more

Cupcakes make people happy 8/22/2005

The cupcakes are Cupcake Royale are pretty much perfect - a harmonious blend of cake and frosting creates a wonderful cupcake experience. Try the lavender frosting. I know it sounds weird, but it's really good. After you try it you too will be converted to the Cult of Lavender. My only complaint is that after a sweet cupcake, the coffee is almost too bitter - better to stick with a glass of water or drink the coffee first. more

FABULOUS Cupcakes! 8/16/2005

The cupcakes here are truly unbelievable. The lemon ones, in particular are so, so good. They also have quite a few flavors to choose from -- chocolate, white, mint, orange, lavendar, the fantastic lemon. Yum! As a "sit and work" place, Cupcake Royale isn't tops, though. Although there is free wireless internet, there is a severe shortage of power outlets. I've also had to leave three times because it was freezing in there, and it sometimes gets loud. But it's 100% worth it to go have a cupcake, some coffee and hang out for a bit. The sandwhiches are also very good. more

What's to say? They make and sell cupcakes. But there's more. They sell great cupcakes and great coffee in a cool, relaxed venue. Sit on the couch, look at the local art on the walls. Bring your laptop and take advantage of their free wi-fi. Cupcakes come in vanilla, chocolate, mint, coconut, and lemon. A big cake is $2, a small one is $1. They sell other pastries, but I've never seen anyone order one. more

Verite Coffee and Cupcake Royale have opened a second location in Ballard. Good coffee, cupcakes with that real buttercream frosting and wireless internet, I'm happy! more
