It always surprises out of town visitors to realize that Pike Place Market is a working market. The produce here is competitively priced (comparable to or cheaper than grocery stores), and especially near closing time, you can get great deals on day-old bakery goods and "use 'em now" vegetables. Fish and meat are also reasonably priced and the fish is very fresh. It pays to shop around before buying if you've got the time, and fighting the crowds, especially on weekends in the summer, isn't fun. But it's a great place to go for fresh produce and fish, and even when crowded, it's a fun place to shop.

Paperhaus really stands out as a very high end stationer in the Seattle area. Beyond just stationery and greeting cards, you can find a lot of different products here. It seems like they really try to carry only high end things. Of course some is expensive. It kind of reminds me of some stationers in Japan.

When our relatives from Italu come this is one place that I take them to buy items to bring home. They have a nice array of items to choose from (I like the different scone mixes.) the prices are reasonable, the help has always been friendly and helpful and besides it's in the mall.

Flava is a great place to pick up unusual gifts for women or the home. Intersesting jewelry, chic stationery, chinese slippers, toiletries etc. Ayala Thomas the owner, also my neighbor, has great taste. She also carries Petunia Picklebottom diaper bags. They are pricey but pratical, stylish and very worth it. Stroll down the block to get a latte and cupcake at Verite while you are in the 'hood!

Communique is where I go to get all of my cards.It's hard to find a place that carries exactly what you need in a card for whatever occaision it is, but Communique has never let me down. I can always find exactly what I need. And if I need a gift as well, there's always something that will fit the bill at Communique. As for wrapping needs, they are superior. I have found some of the most unique wrapping paper and stickers to fill my gifting needs.
