My husband's family used this florist for years before I met them, so on occasion, I had received lovely arrangements from there. We also get flowers for my mother-in-law there. The prices have always been reasonable and the flowers are always high quality. That's why I picked them for my wedding. I was blown away by the amazing bouquet and the arrangements he made for me within my budget. They took plenty of time to work with us on what we wanted, too. I love Gehl. That's why I'm about to head over there to pick up yet another arrangement right now.
Pros: High quality, good prices, friendly, great for weddings

Up until two months ago, I lived in apartments next door to El Diablo on Queen Anne, and I would go there every morning to buy coffee on my way to work. The staff were polite and friendly, and seemed to know every customer who came in the door. It felt as if I had a special relationship with the staff. For example, I ordered a Mexican mocha on a regular basis, the chocolate/coffee/cinammon/spice beverage. In time, they figured out that I was in it for the kick, and offered me a cayenne mocha. It wasn't on the menu (they will give it to you if you ask) --- it tastes like a chocolate covered red hot. It was nice that they would think about what I would specifically like, and touches like that made me feel welcome.
El Diablo wasn't only a place to get that morning caffeine fix. If guests were visiting, I would take them over to brag about my neighborhood. The other reviews detail the heaven/hell combination, but my favorite part to show off was the cakes and tartes. El Diablo contracts through a number of bakers, and are quite discriminating over what they pick. I've seen interesting combinations, including a mojito lime tarte that was delicious. We'd get our orders and sit down on the comfortable couches and chat, and felt no pressure to leave.
In the evening, local musicians would perform, and the crowd seemed to enjoy the place. The coffeeshop serves meets multiple needs -- it is a community hangout. You don't just go there for the coffee (but if you did, I wouldn't fault you). You go there for the atmosphere.

They have very cute things at a very affordable price. The stuff is of good quality. It's a tad small but I did not have a problem customer service. It was said to me that it's best to go during the weekdays to viod the crowd since it is such a small place and to get your pick. They get new stuff all the time. I went on a Saturday and that was a bit crowded but not too bad. Then I went on a weekday and I basically had the whole store to myself! Love it! My sister and I took our time and got great service. I had an exchange too and by the time I'm done, she grabbed whatever I need to exchange to another size, already for me. Will definately make this my frequent place to shop!
Pros: Price, varity, cute stuff
Cons: parking, somewhat crowded on the weekend so might have to wait for dressing rooms

Based on what I have seen, Fiori Floral Design is probably one of the best florists on the West Coast, certainly in Seattle. I have lived in Los Angeles and New York and have not seen prettier arrangements. I work for a large coffee company and we use them a lot. You can hardly walk around our offices without seeing one of their creations on somebody's desk. You can't go wrong here.

Impress Rubber Stamps is one of my favorite stores to go to for ideas. They are so truly unique women! I always go there expecting to spend a few dollars to complete my project and ended up getting enough items to start another fun project!
Make sure you bring a pen and paper to keep track of all the fun designs they have to show there.
The other thing I love about Impress is that the sales staff can show you new tips and has all the items in stock to do it!

I had custom invitation done here in the fall of 2005. It seems that the previous reviewer was a little confused...Real Card's wedding invitation service is by appointment only! Even when I was in the process of creating my invitations with the ladies there, I made appointments to come see them.
It is a high-class, beautiful store with unique and classy designs. My invitations were gorgeous and of the highest quality. If you expect it to be a Papyrus or Crane's where you go in and order your invitations from a book, don't bother going, as you can only see their designs with an appointment...believe me, well worth it!!!
Enjoy developing a relationship with the actual graphic designer of your invites, rather than getting a mass-produced one. I really had fun throughout the process! They are great!
Pros: Custom Design, Fun staff, Unique ideas
Cons: Parking, Hours

This is a boutique whose owners passion is visible. Curt Steiners very usually shop is worth the trip to Ballard all on its own. I would suggest calling for store hours and directions before heading out, it would be easy to walk right by the shop because of the lack of marks for the shop on the street. This makes it kind of a fun secret to find. The handmade jewelry and cards are unique works of art, and Mr Steiner will be working on them when you arrive.
Pros: lovely, unique items
Cons: parking
