I've been going to Archie's as long as I can remember, ever since it was on Stone Way, and it's never failed to disappoint or provide anything less than a stellar visit. There are so many good gift items here, from the novelty toys to the strange foreign instruction posters to the assorted odds and ends (New Kids on the Block trading cards, fingertip rubber monsters, magic 8, bacon strip band aids). There's also a deep and wonderful selection of postcards, including scenes of old Seattle, old movie posters and other strange scenes--buy some and send 'em to your friends. I seriously do about 50% of my holiday shopping here, year after year.
Pros: The amazing selection
Cons: Can be waaaay busy around Christmas

I swear. I mean, really, who doesn't need a chinese takeout box purse, a red floppy fortune teller fish, a fire spitting nun, and a six pack of rubber ducky pencil toppers? This store is a riot, and tons of fun for the entire family - both young and old alike. The best part is that they've expanded to two seperate shops! You can also find all sorts of great fabrics for your own creations. The parking is pretty good for the area.

archie mchpee has all the random fun stuff you every wanted, and then is has shelves and shelves and boxes and boxes of stuff you never even knew existed. its pretty much impossible to go into archee mcphee and not get super excited and want to touch/playwith/by everything.
from little plastic toys shaped like every animal, character, thing you can imagine to science surplus items, to unfill brandnew empty toothpaste containers, they have it all. and everytime you go they have more new exciting things.
i think it might be more addicting than nicotine, but much better for your health.
and on top of all that, they have the best staff ever. the have memorized how much every single random thing costs. thats impressive considering how big the store is

I was trying to describe to a friend the other day what Archie Mcphees is and found myself at a loss for words.
A.P carries some of the most bizarre items ever and there seems to be no rhyme or reason to most of it. I find myself laughing through the whole store and also find myslef buying things I'd never dream of buying elsewhere.. You just have to buy it because its soo weird.
My kids go nuts in here! We often buy weird party trinquets for Halloween and such.
If you havent been here you are missing out!

Archie McPhee's is truly a Seattle landmark. You will find everything that you need, and everything you didnt realized you needed until you saw it. Excellent for the person who is difficult to shop for - if they don't mind a little humor in their gift. Definitely a must-see for Seattleites and tourists alike. Lots of toys and gadgets that make great stocking stuffers with the holidays approaching.

When I first moved to Seattle, a friend who lived here many years ago told me I had to visit Archie McPhees. Its got to be the most unique store...anywhere. They specialize in slaughtering sacred cows you can buy a fire-spitting Nun wind-up toy, rubber live strong bracelets glorifying the 7 deadly sins. This is another one of those stores that has a strong online presence but whose retail selection is even bigger and varied when visiting in person. A great place for Halloween diehards in Seattle you can buy full-sized latex mummies at their retail store, but not online!

This store deserves its title for local favorite. Sometimes I like to go even when I'm not really searching for anything, just to have some fun and see some really bizarre things. Archie McPhee is the mother of all novelty item stores. They have the biggest selection of kitschy and fun toys and decorations. Here you will find the Librarian doll and Jesus action figure as well as the good ol' rubber chicken and boxing nun. Directly next door to the main store is a smaller store that carries more of the themed products, which is useful for parties. This place is definitely a must-see store in Seattle.

Archie McPhee's is full of plastic fish, cel phone buddha, mexican wrestling mask and a million other odd items that you never even knew you needed. The new location in Ballard is huge. They have the main store and across the parking lot they have a store with the larger home decor items. You know, plastic hand chairs, jolly roger bathroom sets and fake trees. The catalog is much easier to take in - I find the actual store to be a sensory overload.
PROS: tons of fun junk
CONS: overload of junk!
