I usually try to shy away from mall-ish places, but this is a great store for buying candles and candle stands/holders and vases. Although the store is a bit small, it's crammed full of a very wide selection of items. They have some cool metal and stone holders here, and I was able to finally find those marble things you put in vases with water and float candles in. I was a happy customer. They are on the pricey side, but worth it because of selection. Oh, and the staff is generally very friendly when I go there.
PROS: Great selection!
CONS: Slightly expensive, in the mall.

Kobo is a Japanese art store, and they have a lot of really high quality arts and crafts that you can buy. They have art that is from Japan, and you can also check crafts that are made in the Seattle area by local artists. It is a little bit expensive, so you can't find many cheap things here, but the quality is good.

We recently purchased some furniture from National Furniture and Bedrooms on Andover Park E in Tukwila wa and were very impressed with the service we received. The salesperson (Brandon) greeted us with a smile, then allowed us some room to browse the store. He was always on hand when we needed assistance.
We did have a delay on one peice of merchandise, which was no problem because Brandon was very up front and honest about possible delays and potential problems. It was very refreshing to meet an honest salesperson in the hectic Southcenter furniture market. I recommend National Furniture to all my friends!

Bassett is a great furniture store. It has over a thousand fabrics and a hundred or more leathers. Most of the items in the store can be customized to fit your needs. The turnover time is very short. Wonderful, well made pieces. The sales staff are well educated and know their product. They make the sales experience great.
PROS: Great selection
CONS: Higher prices - but great lasting furniture

More
We have purchased a few pieces of furniture over the last 10 years and have learned a few things. Furniture that is made from a soft wood, like pine, or furniture that has to be assembled will not stand the test of time. We purchased a nice maple bunk bed for our oldest son when he was 3. The bed was manufacutred by Stanley Furniture. It was definitely more expensive than other beds we could have purchased, but when we consider how great it looks after 6 years of tough love by our son, it was worth every penny.
Pine furniture we bought around the same time looks completely beaten up and gets dented and nicked every time it comes in contact with a toy or a person. With 3 boys in our home, this means that most of our furniture takes a beating.
Even furniture we've purchased that has hard wood veneers does not hold up as well as high quality, hard wood furniture.
We recently purchased another bed when our baby moved out of his crib and into a bed. We looked at Costco, Dania, JC Penny Home, Levitz, Wickes and several other furniture stores. What we found was that most furniture is now made with very few solid wood pieces or is made with soild soft woods. We had a very hard time finding an inexpensive piece of furniture that wasn't made from MDF covered in veneers.
So, we bit the bullet and purchased another Stanley bed, but I know it will be the last bed we will have to buy our son. The bed was part of the Young America line of furniture by Stanley and we were able to purchase it at Paul Schatz in Lake Oswego, Oregon.
I realize you are probably looking to spend a lot less on a bed, but you definitely get what you pay for. My suggestion would be to check Craigslist.com or your local paper's classified ads. Also, put the word out that you are looking for a high quality used bed. I have a friend who did this and a friend of a friend happened to be getting rid of 2 Ethan Allen twin beds for $200 for the set!
I would pick a high quality used bed over an inexpensive, cheaply made, new bed any day. I hope this helps.

We have been buying furniture from Foster's for about 18 years. The showroom is very well put together and reflects the excellent taste and skill of the owners. The furniture selection is impressive. The quality is excellent. We have pretty much furnished our house with Foster's furniture and still use items purchased years ago. The prices reflect the quality. There are few real bargains to be found. There is a great selection of attractive household decor items. This store is not easy to find even though it is centrally located not far from SEATAC airport. If you like contemproary furniture, you will feel right at home when you walk through the front door. I highly recommend this store.
