I walked into the Morgan??????s Plumbing to find one thing: two sink faucets that didn??????t look like they came off the rack at Home Depot. However, I couldn??????t spend a fortune on the top-of-the-line, either. The other tricky thing was that I needed it in a special order color (oil-rubbed bronze) and I needed it quickly as the plumber was coming within a week.
I was intimidated: a woman walking into a ??????real?????? plumbing store, not sure what I needed or what to ask for, knowing it was one measly sale.
A salesperson, Van, immediately asked if he could help me - with no look of impatience when I tried to describe what I needed. He didn??????t just point me to the displays, but walked me through, and then pulled out a giant book to show me other possibilities.
The faucets were ordered, however they would not be ready for my plumber. Of course, the counter people were waiting on the sinks, which were waiting on these faucets! So Van tediously looked up what internal parts were needed that could be there in time. My plumber was able to install those parts, with a simple hook-up of the faucets themselves once my sets came in. Van was then able to replace the parts he had ??????borrowed?????? from the other set.
Eventually, my one ??????measly?????? order turned into one for sink faucets, and both tub and shower fixtures. Van had to borrow from yet another set when it came time to install the shower parts behind new tile because mine had not arrived! Next time I will know to schedule these further apart!
Van kept me updated on the status of everything and always asked when I was available to come in ?????? never telling me that two of the days I chose were his days off! The last thing that happened really proved the value of this employee.
The showerhead we had purchased was too small for the area it was covering, so we ordered a new one. I was having trouble getting down to Balla

I was searching for a Queen bed frame when I walked in Sleepers in Seattle. I was immediately greeted by a very friendly sales associate. The staff was very helpful, not pushy, and informative. They showed me all of the models that they had. I felt like their prices were a little too high for what I was looking for, but I felt comfortable and non-rushed to buy.
PROS: Friendly, clean, variety
CONS: Little pricy

We have purchased a few pieces of furniture over the last 10 years and have learned a few things. Furniture that is made from a soft wood, like pine, or furniture that has to be assembled will not stand the test of time. We purchased a nice maple bunk bed for our oldest son when he was 3. The bed was manufacutred by Stanley Furniture. It was definitely more expensive than other beds we could have purchased, but when we consider how great it looks after 6 years of tough love by our son, it was worth every penny.
Pine furniture we bought around the same time looks completely beaten up and gets dented and nicked every time it comes in contact with a toy or a person. With 3 boys in our home, this means that most of our furniture takes a beating.
Even furniture we've purchased that has hard wood veneers does not hold up as well as high quality, hard wood furniture.
We recently purchased another bed when our baby moved out of his crib and into a bed. We looked at Costco, Dania, JC Penny Home, Levitz, Wickes and several other furniture stores. What we found was that most furniture is now made with very few solid wood pieces or is made with soild soft woods. We had a very hard time finding an inexpensive piece of furniture that wasn't made from MDF covered in veneers.
So, we bit the bullet and purchased another Stanley bed, but I know it will be the last bed we will have to buy our son. The bed was part of the Young America line of furniture by Stanley and we were able to purchase it at Paul Schatz in Lake Oswego, Oregon.
I realize you are probably looking to spend a lot less on a bed, but you definitely get what you pay for. My suggestion would be to check Craigslist.com or your local paper's classified ads. Also, put the word out that you are looking for a high quality used bed. I have a friend who did this and a friend of a friend happened to be getting rid of 2 Ethan Allen twin beds for $200 for the set!
I would pick a high quality used bed over an inexpensive, cheaply made, new bed any day. I hope this helps.

went in here to buy 2 beds for our guest bedroom, they were very helpful, didn't push the most expensive bed or bedding on us, and knew a ton about their products. They have some green bedroom stuff which was very nice (we didn't actually end up buying that), and all and all a great experience for buying bedroom furniture and beds. On 45th in Wallingford near I-5 and U-district, so convenient to us in Ballard
Pros: great selection of beds and bedroom furniture, affordable
Cons: none

After a recommendation from our neighbor, I went to Don Willis looking for some unfinished furniture. Our neighbor is very handy and likes to build his own things, but he told us that when he doesn't have time he always shops at Don Willis.
I had heard that Don Willis makes high-quality customized pieces. I was looking for a few basic unfinished pieces that I could paint for our baby's nursery. My mother-in-law and I went to the store in Ballard, and Ken helped us right away.
He wasn't at all pushy, which was fabulous! There is nothing more frustrating than when a salesperson tries to push you into buying something. In fact, in the end, Ken helped us choose a couple pieces that made sense for us. We bought two dressers of different sizes and a bookshelf.
Ken took the time to explain the different types of wood to us, the drawer sizes, and so on. He never pushed though. He didn't tell us to purchase something over another thing. It was absolutely our decision. We felt comfortable walking around looking at the other pieces in the store as well.
In the end, Ken asked us, "Did you have fun?" We can honestly say that we did. The whole experience was very pleasant, and I would definitely shop at Don Willis again. Ken mentioned his plans on designing another piece of furniture and asked our opinion on it never suggesting that we should wait and come purchase it.
Coming from the Midwest, I'm used to some local stores where the salespeople are friendly and they know your name. When we left Don Willis, my mother-in-law and I felt as if we had made some really great purchases. Two of the pieces actually came to our house the following day. They've been painted, and they're already in the baby's nursery. We expect our other piece to arrive in just a couple weeks.
My husband and I will definitely be back to shop at Don Willis.
Pros: Had exactly what I was looking for

I just love shopping in this wonderful store. Enlighten sells the most beautiful lamps I have ever seen. The owner is from Thailand and you can see his cultures influence in his beautiful merchandise many of which he has made himself. They also sell picture frames and gift items like little jewelry boxes. Their prices are pretty reasonable.

I love to go to Greener Lifestyles. Upon a quick pass-by, it seems like just another store, but when you go in and really look at what they have there, you realize how good it could feel to live a greener lifestyle. They have organic sheets, sustainable flooring, cool bags, and more. The owner is adorable too. When we move into a bigger place, I hope to use her services.
