I enjoy going to neighborhood plays/musicals (in West Seattle) however a part of me aches to go into Arts West. Its just too clausterphobic and the seats are too uncomfortable.
They really need a makeover to make a few revisions to the layout as unless you are in the front row or are on and row's ending you are likely going to feel the same way.
I will likely continue to go regardless of where I end up but an upgrade would make this place so much more enjoyable.

Nows the time to pull out that old bike and start riding! It's great exercise and cheaper then sitting in traffic and burning fuel. For local news on Bike to Work Month and a current listing of all cycling related news here in the NW, check out the largest bicycle club in the nation, Cascade Bicycle Club. http://www.cascade.org/Home/ This non-profit organization has been around for over 30 years and puts on many popular local events like the STP, Flying Wheels, RSVP and more. Free daily rides are available all over the city and Cascade's own education foundation teaches cycling skills and safety through various classes, some of which are located at their club house just off the Burke Gilman trail at Magnuson Park.

More
If you're dying to get out in the water but can't afford a boat, the Center For Wooden Boats is the best way to go. Take advantage of one of Seattle's best features: Lake Union. Rent a rowboat or a sailboat, or sign up for a lesson. If you've ever wanted to sail a classic gaff rigged boat, here's your chance! All the money you spend goes to sustaining this classic boating museum and providing boating programs to underprivileged kids. This is one of the few places in Seattle that offers sailing lessons one-on-one with instructors - and the price is about the same as if you were in a big group setting.

Conworks is a very important asset to Seattle. Their approach of showcasing bold, new works across all areas of art is something very needed in this town of glass blowers and regurgitated trends. While they've had some internal management issues lately, it still remains one of the most exciting art venues in town.
From their website:
"Consolidated Works is a multi-disciplinary contemporary arts center actively developing and presenting work by artists engaged in the exploration of performance, visual art, film, Music and other disciplines. Consolidated Works Uses its programs and facilities to encourage artists, audiences and community partners in the process of multi-disciplinary discovery." http://www.conworks.org/

I recently had the pleasure to visit Jazz Alley to hear Stanly Jordan play a solo set.
Jazz Alley is probably one of the best all jazz venues I have ever set foot into. The entry fee is very affordable (most shows range $20-$30). I have seen the same artists play at Blues Alley in Washington DC for 3 times the price.
Reservations are recommended in advance although walk ins are welcome due to availability. Reservations can be made by phone, on line, or tickets can be purchased via Ticketmaster (although not recommended due to outrageous ticketmaster fees).
The sound in this place is fantastic and there seems to be not a bad seat in the house.
The food is ok and overpriced but to be expected for this type of venue. The drinks are reasonably priced and a limited scotch list is available.
If you are a looking for a place to see a great jazz show, Jazz Alley truly is the premier venue for jazz in the Pacific Northwest.
See you all at the Ahmad Jamal show.

I have used the Kashless site to get everything for free. It is like Freecycle, Craigslist, facebook and twitter rolled into one service. I just got a free ping-pong table. They give you text message alerts as well. Right now it is only in Seattle, I think they are going national soon.

Having moved to the neighbourhood 2 years ago, we were pleasantly surprised to find a traditional family store still around, surviving the pressure of those big, out of town conglomerate. Despite relatively limited space their selections are amazing and more than satisfy daily basic needs. their meat and wine departments are impressive and commendable. Here is to many more years of success!
