I randomly took a couple of friends to this restaurant last weekend (late August 2006) as we were returning from a couple of hours at the Magnuson Dog Park. We originally had been on our way to one of my other favorite Thai joints, Royal Palm, in the Roosevelt district. Bai Pai is located near the corner of 25th Ave NE and is on NE 65th St at the ground floor of a mixed use building. I have to say that once we walked in I was very impressed by the thoughfully designed interior. It was a weekend at late lunchtime and we were greeted with a friendly smile. All of us ended up ordering combinations from the lunch menu and we were all very pleased with the results. I had the mixed vegetables with tofu and brown rice and since I was trying to cut down on fried foods I asked them to replace the spring rolls that came with it and changed it to phad thai. A very good decision. My counterparts also both had phad thai with their combos but one had green curry as her other dish and her husband had satay. All tasty and satisfying all around. The hubby had a couple of Mac & Jacks while we ladies had the Thai Iced Tea - YUM! We'd come here again in a heart beat. I understand that on weekends they have music too and I plan to come back some time soon to check it out.
