My favorite time to visit is during the week when it's mostly empty. It's just waaaay too loud and crowded on the weekends. There's no place to sit and all everyone wants to do is scream about football and knock people in the butt with pool sticks. During the week is when you get to talk to the nice/hot folks who work there and the regulars who hang out. The atmosphere is chill, especially in the smaller bar area. They have good stuff on tap and some pretty decent eatins. Maybe we were a bit tipsy, but their Bleu cheese bacon burgers were to DIE for. My first visit was by far the best. We strolled in on a lazy Saturday afternoon and watched as a liquor sales slut tried to flirt with the owner...while his wife was working the bar not five inches away. Hilarity ensued. It's our favorite local bar.

Here ye, here ye: My first instinct for bar & restaurant recommendations (or really...for anything) always seem to be for places either not mentioned by anyone else, or not even listed. But Jabu's Pub is pretty sweet...for serious! Found on Roy St. on the skirts of central LQA (Lower Queen Anne), Jabu's is a home retrofitted into a business which provides character if nothing else. There are two main rooms, each with their own bar & seating. The back room is host to TVs, pool tables and the like, with an enchanting outdoor patio to connect the two. The staff is almost always charismatically snarky. No quicker way to feel at home than cheeky, fun service! Their bar menu is thought provoking, with some items not so secretly aligned to microwavable goods available at Costco (IE Hot Pockets). Decent to standard prices and manageable crowd make it a rock-solid choice.
