Cold food. Watered down drinks. Bad Attitude. 6/16/2008

It hurts to write this. I have been going to this establishment for four years and have always had a great experience. But today - was so uncalled for. Especially since I took a very high end client to lunch. Went in there. Poor Greeting by whom I think was the owner Mike. The food was just well..putting it nicely..OK. Spicey hot and served cold. Slow service. And just a really uncomfortable experience. Especially from the owner who complained about having to move some umbrellas for a sweet old lady geared out in gay pride attire. Never will go back!! Never. Embarassed for you - POOL BOY.- more

If you breakfast in Seattle a lot, don't miss this cute place. It's in an old house, which almost makes the food taste better. There is a wait, but you'll find that at most breakfast places and of course there's a reason. They have interesting twists on dishes, friendly staff, and it's laid back (not in a bad way). Have a hot beverage while you wait or don't go too hungry... more

Hi-Spot Cafe 3/13/2006

If you have relatives visiting from out of town, or if you want to eat somewhere that feels more like a home than some chain-restaurant, I recommend this quaint but classy place in Madrona. It's set in an old Victorian house, and serves the sort of fare that many of us wished our mothers could have cooked. The place is extremely popular, and is usually packed, especially on Sunday mornings, and at times you may have to wait 45 minutes for a table. But you can purchase the pastries that they bake on site to enjoy with coffee as you wait. And you won't regret the wait. more

The best breakfast spot in Seattle by far. Not only great food but a courteous and prompt wait staff. The only down side is the wait. If you don't want to wait, you'll need to go at 8:00 am or 11:00 am. In between those times is a mess. more

Great place and great eggs 2/17/2006

It's a little out of the way, but an institution on Madrona. I'm surprised I can't find it with Judy's Book, but here it is on A9 Maps http://maps.a9.com/?mpref=1&mscl=5500,55000&mimg=914aadcf0ce6fffe,1&mstr=34th%20Ave&ypLoc=1000%20Boren%20Ave%2C%20Seattle%2C%20WA%2098104&mll=47.61289954238346,-122.28932241455185,47.60773871693669,-122.29697353730622,47.613178419414425,-122.28932241455185 and here it is with google local http://www.google.com/local?hl=en&hs=fHz&lr=&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&q=hi-spot+cafe&near=Seattle,+WA&sa=X&oi=locald&radius=0.0&latlng=47606389,-122330833,5377379225633446724 An awesome spot, no pun intended, the eggs are particularly good. Try the baked eggs and the cinnamon rolls are superb. more
