Search JudysBook for Team in Training and look for their brochures in area businesses. I was only able to run 2 miles and I hated every minute of it. The thought of completing a marathon was simply out of the question. But it always nagged at me because the thought of completing a marathon would be such a HUGE accomplishment for me and to check that off my list of life accomplishments brought tears to my eyes. I found Team in Training and the experience was so awesome that it will always have a special place in my heart! 3 marathons later, I am loving the program, the life-long friends that I have made, and believe it or not, I now love the running!! The program offers you comprehensive training for an event (1/2 marathon, full marathon, triathlon, etc.) and they connect you with a honor patient for which you run for (an honor patient is someone who has survived, or is suffering from, Leukemia or Lymphoma). In exchange, you fundraise for the society. It's a win/win and will leave you with a lifetime of memories. My first marathon was in London and I am still in contact with my honor patient and run every day with my training partners. Enjoy!!

Forget the gym!!! Team in Training will whip you into shape, and you will have a lot more fun doing it! Start at any level, pick an event to train for over the next 4 - 7 months, and join the team. The coaches will outline everything for you. All you have to do is follow the schedule and raise funds. The funds mostly go to cancer research (some goes to pay for your event and travel, the program, and help cancer patients defray costs). You can choose to run or walk a marathon or half marathon, undertake a triathalon, or bike a century ride. You can be very experienced or not even a teeny bit experienced (beginner swimming/biking lessons can be arranged). I went from zero to marathon in about four months and I still can't believe I just ran a full marathon. And along the way, I had a great time, met fantastic people, and raised money for a great cause. I loved the tream approach, the idea of exercising outdoors, mostly whenever and wherever I wanted, and the fantastic coaching.
