every sunday i go to seattle for my volunteer gig at left bank books (one great bookstore) and before i go in to the bookstore i always, always have to get a cup of coffee at Local Color. i always order the soy white choco mocha and i am always blissfully content. i've been a barista for a year so i pretty much stopped drinking coffee but Local Color revived my faith in caffeine. Great artworks too, the baristas are super-friendly even if they're always awfully busy.

several years ago if you told me i'd be a wnba/seattle storm fan, i would have laughed in your face. now i pass time during the fall, winter and spring by counting the days until the season begins, which it did yesterday!
if you haven't been to a game but you like basketball or sports or want to do something fun and inexpensive or want to show kids what *real* teamwork looks like, then i can't recommend the Storm games enough.
to start with, you can get lower bowl seats for $10. the games are very family-oriented and kid-friendly. the players often sign autographs after warm-ups. etc.
but the best part is that you will watch 40 minutes of pure athleticism by women who play because they love the game. they don't get paid millions of dollars. they don't have private jets to take them on their road trips. they don't hog the ball and choke their coaches. they play a wonderfully pure form of basketball and will give up a basket for an assist more times than you can count.
i'm a former hard-core nba fan who will NOT go to an nba game anymore but have missed only 2 wnba games in the past 5 years - once for my honeymoon and once for the birth of my little dude.
come check out the 2004 championship team. schedule, team, etc. info is at http://www.wnba.com/storm/. and if you want to speak w/a ticket rep, send me mail and i'll hook you up with mine.

I so appreciate that small sector of society who refuses to let vinyl slip away. Some bands just sound better with a little snap, crackle, and pop. And the cover art is so much more impressive.
Jive Time has pretty knowledgeable staff without the record collector 'tude. (C'mon - I know you've seen Hi Fidelity, and yes - most record geeks are really like that.)
If they don't have what you're looking for - they can usually point you in the right direction.

Quest Stadium is right next door to Safeco Field. The seahawks are great. They throw long bombs, and King Alexander is a rush king. I went during a playoff game against the Rams. We lost but it was fun. The open air stadium allows the cheers to echo. Once of the best stadiums in football at the moment. Check out the ehibition center where they hold shows too. Quest is my greatest adventure so far. Check it out as the hawks are headed for the playoffs.

I love going to the fenix, only on the weekends though. It doesn't draw too much of a crowd during the week but on the weekend, esp. during the summer months it is alot of fun. I would have to agree that after the earthquake in 1999 it hasn't been the same. But they did a great job making it bigger and more dance floor space. You can actually get a seat since there is a ton a places to sit now. Also plenty of room to dance with two dance floors. Go when there is a good live cover band and you won't be disappointed.

This arcade is a blast! Pinball, video games, skiball iceball, prize-grabbing games, air hockey, and even a carousel, this place is so much fun. Last night I played Ms. Pacman until I could barely move my wrist! But it was worth it -- I got the high score! My favorite game in there is skiball. I managed to get enough tickets to win a deck of Simpsons cards. If you haven't been yet, you are missing out -- what a fun place!

I work here taking pictures of the people that go on the ride. I love ALL the captains, there a bunch of fun and really love what they do. The office/ticket booth people are really great as well! It really is a fun ride to go on even if you live here! The ride is 90 minutes and costs about $25 per person. It goes ALL over Seattle! If you do go try and pre buy the tickets because there usually sold out for the whole day by like 4 and GET THERE A HALF HOUR EARLY!!!!!! The seating is first come first serve and if you go with a group of 3+ and are the last to arrive chances are you won't get to sit together. They try and make it soooo clear to people but there is always the rude group that get there 5 min. after they loaded the duck and complain to everyone that they can't sit together. It really is a great tour though and if you do go make sure to sit in the middle because the back can be a little bumpy and the front although its the warmest part, you can miss stuff a little easier because it does go by kind of fast sometimes. This has been voted one of the things you MUST do in Seattle!

I play the violin and my sound post once fell off and I had no idea what to do. A friend recommended going to Bischofberger Violins and I found the location after some searching. The owner quickly fixed the sound post and handed my violin back to me, all within 10 minutes. He didn't even charge for the service. A wonderful place to go to for quick, professional service on your stringed instrument. They also rent and sell instruments and strings and various accessories for stringed instruments.

The most beautiful ball park I've been to. As a matter of fact I've been to only two, the kingdom and this one. It was recently build and not too old. They have a retractable roof and is great because it's next to the water and you have a great view of elliot bay. NOt much of a hassel to find parking because the garage is right next door. The garage is also conected to I-90 so all of eastside people have easy access to the freeway. The mariners are a good team and they can only get better. Have fun!
