super slow is fine, if that's what it takes for you to get there and back. for that matter, you can walk if you need to. if you do this at least 2x a week, no matter where you live in seattle (aside from maybe belltown), you will not need a diet. in fact, you will be able to completely get rid of worrying about what you eat and when entirely. one final suggestion, and it only costs $3/day (less than curves! less than health clubs! less thanspecial "low fat" food!): take the bus to & from work everyday. it will work and it will help your city too.

In the relatively recent past I have seen great, intimate concerts for free by:
Franz Ferdinand
Kings of Leon
RJD2
at Easy Street on Lower Queen Anne.
I have also seen a few bad sets.
The beauty is that all of the concerts are free, so if the band is terrible, it is easy to leave because you don't feel like you have to get your money's worth.
Highly recommended.

I was amazed by the design of the EMP, both from the inside and just looking at it from the outside. I'm not much of a music junkie, so I didn't appreciate the exhibits as much as my friends did, but the few things I did understand left me speechless. Admission, like any other famous museum, was a bit pricey, but I think everyone should go inside at least once in their life.

The museum of flight is an amazing, fascinating place to spend a day - or a few hours. They have displays on all stages of aviation - starting with the Wright Brothers in Kitty Hawk, through the present day and even a special section regarding space flight. My personal favorite is walking through Air Force One - and seeing Jackie O's famous bathroom that she designed. It's not a huge deal by today's standards, but pretty it's amazing to be able to explore the actual aircraft that carried Presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy and Nixon on official business.

Granted, that may not be saying much as radio quality has really taken a nose dive in recent years (if I have to hear Crocodile Rock one more time...).
However, KEXP is fantastic! The djs are so on top of it - they really play the best and most interesting up-and-coming music talents. John, Cheryl, and Kevin are awesome! I owe almost everything I know about quality music to the fine folks at KEXP.
Tune in! 90.3 FM Seattle

Didn't think Seattle would have such nice theater - I love the interior decor, the old style building. Seatings are nice, and front rows on the second floor I think gets better view than MF. I went for Jason Mraz's concert and Stomp. Great experience. Lots of paid parkings near by. Free road side parking after 6pm but you'd have to drive around.

I've been going to the Crest since I was in high school, about 8 years ago and the amazing thing is that the seats are still $3. That means that either we were getting ripped off years ago or that it was cheap to begin with and has become that much of a better deal in the mean time!
Yes, as everyone knows by all the reviews here, the Crest is the famous north side theater where all tickets being $3. Not just on Tuesday afternoons or with a group of 5 more: all the time.
The thing that keeps me going back to the Crest is the selection of films they have. They have a great mix of independent and foreign films that have been playing at other theaters operated by Landmark Theaters throughout the city and a few Hollywood flicks thrown in for good measure. What's great about this mix is that it still gives you a chance to see the smaller films that have done well that you have just become privy to from your best friend who told you he saw it at the Seven Gables a few weeks ago, but man, bummer, he doesn't think its playing anymore; or you can go see the big blockbuster that everyone is talking about but by no means want to shell out $9 for.
The popcorn is good, free refills on large drinks and
'corn are a plus although Ive never taken advantage of it. Films also come through here pretty quickly, about 3 weeks on average I would say. The seats leave something to be desired, but you're paying $3, don't complain.
All in all the Crest is the perfect date when your netflix don't look as appealing as you want and going and renting a movie just doesn't sound romantic enough.

I'm a long time fan of improv and comedy writing. It's painfully obvious someone from Jet City wrote those negative reviews about Unexpected Productions who is by far the superior company when it comes to actually improvising. Unexpected Productions revolutionized improv in Seattle. They are the reason companies like Jet City Improv exist! Whenever I'm in Seattle (which isn't as often as it used to be) I try to see an improv show. Unexpected Productions Theater Sports show is the one I recommend, hands down! Especially if you're an adult, although I've seen this group handle an audience with kids in it too. The last time I saw it there was a birthday party of kids and a birthday party for a 40 year old along with two bachelorette parties. The Theater Sports cast handled everyone with professionalism and showmanship, being sure to tease everyone as well. They even ripped into an obnoxious heckler in a very entertaining way by shutting him up and getting his friends to laugh at his stupidity! I will always be grateful to Unexpected Productions for the years of great memories they've given me and will hopefully continue to give me in the years to come.
