Champs Karting is a great place to spend a couple hours. The racing is a lot of fun, and it's even better with a group of friends. Let your competitive side show! They have locations in South Seattle, Redmond, and soon to be re-opened in Mill Creek.

And we're not talking symphony orchestra here...
The Croc is the place to catch indie acts of every stripe before they hit the big time and start playing the Showbox (next rung on the ladder), the Moore (yet another step up) or the Paramount (sellout city). (You and I both know that sports arenas don't even merit discussion as music venues, unless you're just going for the fireworks display).
Their bookings are consistently eclectic (from Jim Jennie and The Pinteops to Sigur Ros) and excellent (Camper van Beethoven and the Knitters were two of my favorite shows in the past year, but there were really too many to count). The beer is cheap, the floors are sticky and the whole place has that funky smell that can only come from a tightly-packed room of sweaty rock fans.
If you love music and want to catch your favorite band up close and personal, the Croc is the place to be.

From the owner: we recently started selling new titles of vinyl - and the people have responded! Vinyl is on the rise! We specialize in independent music & movies, however we try to carry every title out there. We mostly sell used product, but when it's a super popular title, we carry it new. We have a huge $5 used dvd section that we replenish daily - we sell the heck out of that section! We have a huge selection of foreign and GLBT movies. We can order you anything! Come on in and visit us!!

Capitol Music in downtown is a wonderful music store. THey carry a good selection of sheet music, from classical to pop to band and choir. There are rooms available to play through pieces before purchase, and if they don't have what you're looking for, the staff will help you to find it in a catalog or online and order it for you, with the option of shipping it to your address. They sell and rent instruments as well as supplies. I have been extremely happy with Capitol Music.

The Odyssey Maritime Discovery Center is another fun and educational place to go with the entire family. Its located in a nice modern building. Parking is available in a parking garage across the street. My kids enjoyed the kayak that you get to try out by paddling through a virtual bay. They also loved the exhibit where they can climb aboard this play structure and operate a fish conveyer and pretend to be fishermen. The Odyssey is only open on Tuesdays-Saturdays.

The Harvard Exit Theater is on the corner of Roy and Broadway - right where 10th becomes Broadway - in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood. Parking can be difficult as there is no parking lot and all patrons must park on the street. Still, the theater is worth whatever hardships you might endure while looking for parking. The theater is housed within the old Seattle Women's Club building. The lobby of the theater is the largely unchanged former sitting room of the Women's Club - a spacious, beautiful room. The theater is a reparatory theater that plays independent films and plays only two films at a time. It's worth the effort.

There is always a fun time to be had by everyone at the Fun Forset Amusement Park. They have miniature golf, kiddie rides, video games, bumper cars, climbing wall, laseer tag, great food and more! There is a fun activity there that everyone in the family can enjoy, even the little ones. Very nice place, safe for the kids and pretty affordable prices on both games, rides and food items.

Hands down. There is no comparison to this theatre and it's MEGA HUGE screen. My first movie here was Star Wars in 1977, then Grease in 1978. I still fondly remember them and the many movies that I've seen there since then. There's a reason that this is an old Seattle favorite - this is the way that movies used to be watched, and the way they come out best on-screen. For big Hollywood blockbusters, this is the ONLY place in the universe to see those movies. Thank God Paul Allen bought it and is renovating it!

The Majestic Bay is a new, state-of-the-art tribute to the original Bay (1915) with one huge screen downstairs and two normal ones upstairs.
It is a great neighborhood cinema and is centrally located in Ballard (on Market Street).
Than Bros Pho is right across the street and Ben & Jerry's is next door - perfect for those who like to eat before and after a movie.
La Carta de Oaxaca (excellent) and good Thai, Tex-Mex, Indian, and other restaurants are also within five minutes walk.

My husband and I generally prefer either foreign or independent films, but on the rare occasion we want to see something mainstream, we head to Pacific Place. I love that they have parking on-site (uncommon for downtown!), and the theaters are large and comfortable. Though my interactions with them have been limited, the staff is always friendly and accommodating.
Another plus is the many good restaurants on the same level of the mall, so you can really make a nice date night.
