This place seems wonderful, but my experience with the employees at Paint the Town is a different story! Below is a part of a complaint letter I wrote to the owner after our recent visit. In short- don't waste your time or your money at this place! Not five minutes after sitting down at the back most table in the store, we had to endure listening to the male and female employee have a long and inappropriate conversation. The conversation started with the female employee stating that the group she was helping (when we were waiting) was "such a pain in the ass" and that it was a woman and her two grandkids, but that the girl "couldn't stand that one of the little girls wouldn't stop speaking Spanish, why can't she just speak english like everyone else". My Little Sister looked very uncomfortable, as her parents are from Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic and often speak Spanish at home. The conversation continued into the two employees talking about how a lot of couples are breaking up lately and the female employee saying that "my friends boyfriend broke up with her, he is such an asshole." I was appalled to hear this sort of language in what I believe to be a family establishment. It was very difficult for me to not speak up but I felt like the best thing to do would be to contact the owner or manager, as I am doing now. As my Little Sister and I were finishing up our paintings, a different female employee came up to us and said "I'm sure you know this, but we have a party coming at 3 o'clock, so you need to leave". I let her know that we were done and would be cleaning up. At no point before this employee approached us had I been told that a party was coming in or that we were not allowed to sit in the back table. We proceeded to clean up our stuff and took our finished pieces to the front. Upon coming up to the register we waiting another ten minutes before anyone was able to ring us up, and then we left.

I used to go to Paint the Town every month or so with my 5-year old daughter. We have more pots, plates and cups from their studio than I know what to do with. It was a great way to spend a rainy afternoon. But then they changed their pricing to the "No Studio Fee" method - i.e. the charge out the nose for EVERYTHING you want to do there method - it just got way too expensive to be able to justify. What used to be a $25-$30 outing when I too got to paint something while my daughter painted 2 pieces is now a $50 outing where I don't get to paint anything and she gets to paint alone while I watch. It's too expensive for the additional $20 for me to paint too. I've gone back twice since they switched their method, but it's not much fun just watching and spending $40-50 for an outing for one of us to have fun. I'm looking for a new place/thing to do now. Paint the Town? OK if you have a LOT of money.

I'm generally not a very creative person when it comes to art. But Paint the Town brings out the creativity side of me. I love how you can personalize your own mugs, bowls, plates, picture frames and more. I made a mug for my fiance and wrote my name on it. It's a pretty fun place. The mug cost me $8, and they charge $6/hr. If you go on Weds., it's ladies night and they have specials, such as discounts on the hourly rate. You can also take your kids here and spend some family time with them. Kids would love this place, they get to paint things and see their final products in a week. Highly recommended! It's also a great date place too!

Paint the Town in the University Village is a great artistic activity, especially for children's, though not exclusively. When I was younger, my mother always brought us here to create special gifts for various holidays. Choose your pottery piece (they usually have a seasonal section also), choose your colors, and go crazy! Leaving the piece there, the staff will glaze the artwork and in about a week or less you will have your masterpiece. Pieces range from bowls to vases to ornaments to frog figurines. The staff are always so helpful and to see some of their work on display is awe-inspiring! Rainy day or not, holiday approaching or not, Paint the Town is a great place to let out your inner Picasso.

Paint The Town is a ceramics painting studio. At Paint The Town, you choose a piece of pottery, design your artwork and paint it on the piece. The studio glazes and fires the pieces and they are ready for you in about a week! The staff at Paint The Town are fantastic, friendly, knowledgeable and always willing to help those of us with little ones. It is perfect entertainment for kids and adults - in fact, my husband and I have been known to go there on our date nights on occasion. This is definitely an outing to do with the kids. You get to pick out a ceramic...choose from plates, jars, a vast array of items, and paint it with your children, or significant other. Pick it up a few days later, and proudly display in your casa! This is a fun activity for the family. The prices run around 10 - 13 dollars. They charge about 5 dollars on up for the ceramic, and 6 dollars per hour of painting. But they do pro rate, and they do have specials. Pick up a flyer and you will see days where they charge just 3.00 an hour for painting. A definite for a family!

Yet another fairly typical ceramics painting studio, though Paint the Town has the added entertainment benefit of being the one where nannies from affluent familes and over-controlling stay at home moms take the preschool set on weekday mornings and afternoons. They do have some lovely big mugs, perfect for coffee on Saturday mornings. The price is similar to other ceramics painting studios, but UPASS holders get 10% off.

So, instead of spending you whole day shopping at U-Village, you can go there and make crafts too :) Paint the Town is a cute little paint-it-yourself pottery shop tucked away in U-Village. Given, it's location, it can be pretty packed at times since I suppose I'm not the only one with the bright idea of make an item for Father's Day with my baby's footprints! BUT, you can call ahead and see if any groups are coming in (I had just missed a group of pre-schoolers) or find out when they aren't so busy. Another cool thing is each day of the week there is a different special. For example, at this location you have to pay a studio fee (not all places charge this) in addition to paying for the pottery you paint. The day I went if you brought your child, the studio fee was waived. The staff were quite helpful in getting my baby's HAND and FOOT prints on the tile we picked out. You work of art will be ready in about a week, so plan accordingly!
