Both of our boys went to Young Child Academy. The school is a great foundation for entering kindergarten--public or private. Both our boys have excelled in school and I believe that having attended YCA is certainly a factor. The kids learn Spanish, dance, science, art and music along with the usual numbers, letters and phonics. I really like the structure and routine it gives the children. There are no surprises when they move along to kindergarten. The families that have their children and YCA are terrific. Our boys --and us--have made long time friends. I can not say enough good things about the staff and teachers. You could not go wrong with starting your child out at Young Child Academy.

We took a tour. While the facility is great and the teachers all seemed to have control of the kids, the attitude of the staff was somewhat cold. When we mentioned that finances were tight for us, the director turned away from us and basically acted as if she could not be bothered with "people like us."

My daughter attended YCA for 16 months. At first, things went smoothly. However, the program does not support children who do not thrive in a regimented / structured environment. Often times, more emphasis was placed on appearances than on curriculum and structure. Moreover, teachers emphasized "compliance" rather than "exploration."
If your infant / pre-schooler / pre-K child can sit still for long periods of time and you seek a sterile, Stepfordian homogenized educational experience for your child, this is the school for you.

If you're looking for a well-structured, caring childcare, the Young Child Academy is a great choice.
The director is kind, patient and thoughtful, and all the teachers truly love kids. They offer dance, piano, art, science and other quality academic programs, and even provide monthly haircuts (for an additional fee competitive with the Hair Chair).
What I also like is the quality of families that are part of the school. This can make a huge difference between a great daycare and a scary one, and the YCA families are friendly and committed, and have very nice kids.
They have a web site: http://www.youngchildacademy.com
