Those of you who have read my other posts probably know that I am not vegan myself, but that does not mean that I don't support those who advocate such a lifestyle change. I first encountered Action for Animals outside a fair by the Seattle Space Needle, where I bought a ocean conservation pin from them. They will send a free vegan starter pack to help people who have decided to make the change.

We have three kids who are hard of hearing. This school has been a godsend for us! They absolutely love the children, and the staff are probably the most dedicated staff you can find in any school. Our kids have, without fail, learned much there, and are way ahead of their siblings that are not hearing impaired siblings.

I have been taking Pilates classes at Todo Bien for over a year now and I have to say it is some of the best instruction I have received. It is also a great location for me (Tangletown neighborhood). The massages are not half-bad, either. The setting may be a little low-key for those used to the more high-tech Pilates studios, but the price is RIGHT ON, the space is charming and cool, and the teachers could not be better.

More
I'm a student at PCNW and can't rave enough. From the high level of instructors to the more than ample facilities, you truly get what you pay for. And it's expensive. A 3 credit class is $615, but the education you receive is worth every penny.
PCNW also offers workshops and rental darkrooms. Famous photographers such as Mary Ellen Mark often teach through, or visit PCNW. By checking out their website you can learn about when opportunities will be available.
If you want a high quality education in photography, Photographic Center Northwest is absolutely where to go. Don't be fooled by the evil empire (you know who I'm talking about), they don't even compare to PCNW.

More
Steven Klein's LSAT prep course is the best money I ever spent. He is a huge reason I ended up at an ivy league law school. And his class is much cheaper (less than $1000) than the big national companies. More importantly, Steven teaches his class in an individualized manner. While every student needs to learn certain core concepts to excel on the LSAT, Steven recognizes his students are often in very different places in terms of the skills necessary to take the test. Instruction is individually tailored to each student to ensure that the student is absorbing what that individual needs, not some "trick" the national companies think will help everyone excel. Steven's approach to the test is more comprehensive than the national companies as well, he teaches it as a body, not 150 individual questions. Many questions, particularly in the games section, rely on other questions, they are not discrete events, but the national companies will "teach" that they are. Steven's method is more centered and less stressful. He also will help you work on law school admissions essay and knows more about the law school admissions game than anyone I've ever met. As a bonus, if you take the Saturday class in the summer/fall, the U-District Farmer's Market is right outside and a great place to grab a snack during class breaks. Take Steve and go to a great law school!!

Tumble Town offers classes for everyone from preschoolers just getting used to moving their bodies to competitive gymnasts. The instructors, especially Coach Delsa, have a great way with the kids and are able to get the best out of them while remembering that they are still kids with other things in their lives besides gymnastics. However, they have won several high-profile meets and are very competitive. Word has it that Coach Delsa is in fact buying the gym and will be changing its name to Max Gymnastics.

More
My children have attended Pinehurst Child Care for several years. It has proven to be a wonderful center for them. The staff combine both loving attention with, for the older children, basic preschool academic activities. The core staff has remained stable without the typical high turnover rates found at other centers. Parents are encouraged to be very involved and teachers and directors are all very responsive to parental concerns. The younger children (babies and toddlers) spend time in a nurturing environment with the right level of stimulus for their developmental level. The older children experience many enriching activities such as field trips. Though the school itself does not appear particular aesthetically pleasing on the outside, it is a wonderful place for kids.
