I arrived for my 11am appointment early, as I usually do. Dr. Roth was behind the reception desk chatting about current events with the receptionist as I checked in. There were 3 staff members that I could see, including Dr. Roth. No other patients that I could see.
I was escorted back to the room and then...
...I waited...and I waited...and I waited for about another 17 minutes before Dr. Roth rolled in for a 5 minute exam and announced I needed x-rays. Fine.
So then I waited...and I waited...and I waited for his assistant to show up to usher me back to the x-ray room. After 15 minutes of waiting, she shows up. But this time I have my shoes on and I am ready to go.
What is it with these orthopedic doctors? I can't for the life of me sort out why on earth they think it's a good idea to leave patients waiting and waiting and waiting when are no other patients to be seen. If I make an appointment for 11, I will show up early, fill out my paperwork and expect to be seen at 11 or very shortly thereafter. If I arrive and you tell me that Dr. So-and-so is running a touch late and would I mind waiting, I will do so patiently.
But to be left waiting, without explanation, for more than a few minutes in an EMPTY (I could hear crickets, people) office is insulting, disrespectful and infuriating. However, it seems to run rampant in this field.
