I started seeing Dr. Shigihara a few years ago after she took over Dr. Barney's practice. She is very gentle, thorough, an extremely nice person. When I had a decayed tooth, she took the time to explain what my options were and recommended course of action. It helped me decide which option to go with to deal with for that situation. They also have the best hygienists - the whole office is great!

I agree with the other folks about the stellar front desk (especially that friendly blonde lady) and the office has wonderful hygenists and assistants too, but no one can replace Dr. Barney! And honestly, I got a weird feeling from Dr. Pat, like nervouse energy. Certainly not what i need when I'm already nervous!

I inherited Dr. Shigihara. Or perhaps she actually inherited me. She took over Dr. Barney's practice after he decided to retire, spend time with his family, and give back to the community (by volunteering at Pike Place Market - what a guy!).
She's a little spendy and tricky to get in to see unless you book well in advance. She's a great listener and problem solver. She has never pushed me to have work done that I wasn't ready for.
The real gem in this joint is her staff - from the hygienists to the front desk. These folks are consistently cheery and helpful - the kind of folks who want to hear about your recent vacation or grandpa's illness.
I have the best hygienist, EVER! I won't even tell you her name. She's semi-retired and only works 2 days per week and I don't want to compete with you for appointments with her.

I've been a patient of Dr Shigihara, or Dr Pat for over 15 years. She is a great dentist! Always takes the time to explain what she is doing and why. She even came in on her day off a few years back to take care of my emergency root canal. Also, has put together a great staff-dental hygenists and front office.
