Last spring, I was heading off to Mexico, so I decided it was time for my first waxing experience! Being the research queen that I am, I went to work to find the place with the best reputation. All trails ended here at the Wax On Spa on Capitol Hill. Since then I've been there twice, once was a great and once was not so much. The main problem is hair breakage - lots of it - maybe the wax was too hot or it was done too quickly, I'm not sure...I hear honey waxing is the newest fad...I'm going to try that next.

Everyone starts their spa experience at Ummelina with a relaxing foot soak in a calm room that totally blocks out the bustle of downtown. Then, enjoy the shower room with shower heads coming out from all angles to fully relax you. If that's not enough, your massage will put you in a full state of bliss. Not to be missed for a special treat.

I visited Spa Scotta recently for a waxing service, and was pleasantly surprised! I usually go to Gene Juarez, but the prices seemed to keep going upward and the visits were becoming shorter and shorter. The last time I was there, I received waxing in a chair and it only took about 5 minutes. At Spa Scotta, the skin therapist was very friendly and pleasant, I had a private room, and she used a treatment afterwards to calm the skin that I didn't even know existed! She did a great job. Very cute reception area as well. And I forgot to mention--lower waxing rates than Gene Juarez!

A few weeks ago before i went on vacation i needed to get waxed. The usual place that i go to on Capital Hill is Wax on Spa but they didn't have any appointments so i called Spa de Lago. And i will go back. This place is much better than Wax on Spa. Not only is it more friendly but the service is so much better as well. I highly recommend this place and will go back here for all my waxing.

Good: Online booking, professionalism, vibe, friendly, one stop full-service salon spa, right across from Cafe Fiore my Fav coffee shop. Dermalogica!. Other: Getting my coffee fix and noticed them across the street. Saw Dermalogica in the window and walked in to buy my face fix. They welomed me, gave me a tour (beautiful modern space, cozy treatment rooms!). I even sat down and got my hair cut. Not really the spontaneous type, but I loved this space and the people. I haveta go back for a facial..

Travis Powell is amazing. I've been going to him for a little over a year now, every 5 weeks, for Brazilian waxes. He's funny, sweet, personable, and most importantly - incredibly good at what he does. I come in furry and leave clean as a whistle. Prices are totally reasonable, too.
Also, Cady at the front desk is a sweetheart, and the whole place lacks the snobby, uptight atmosphere of other salons and spas. Every time I've come in, people have been talking and laughing, and I've never been treated with anything less than friendly respect. I'm a devoted fan of Dewi, and will never go anywhere else for my "landscaping" needs!

With Its resful and intimate feel I was impressed the minute I walked in. Right away I felt more relaxed! I recived a microdermabrasion treatment to help with my hyperpigmentation. I have been so happy with the results! I have had 3 treatments and each time they pigmentation gets lighter and my face feels fantastic! I've received several compliments. The service has also been outstanding! Le Visage is everything I look for in a spa and I definitely would recomend it to my friends and family.

More
With a five-year twice-monthly mani/pedi habit, I consider myself a bit of a mani/pedi connoisseur. From the $90 pedicure at the NYC Four Seasons, to cheap-o corner shops, let’s just say that my digits have been around and for my $, InSpa blows away the competition. Here’s why:
1. Consistency – No matter who I see, the service is always top notch.
2. No gimmicks – To me, paying an extra $40 to soak my feet in hot chocolate (a spa in NYC actually offers this) or to have floating rose petals in my pedi water isn’t luxurious, it’s just plain silly.
3. Cleanliness – I’ve been to fancy (& expensive) spas and been skived out by their equipment. InSpa uses hospital-grade autoclaves to sanitize their mani/pedi implements. I don’t know one other spa that does this.
4. NO TIPPING!! – The price on the menu is the price you pay. Brilliant!
My days of experimenting with other places are over. I’m strictly an InSpa girl now.
