I love this place! My mom referred them to me and I have gone there ever since. Take in to mind there is only 2 people working there and they have half of Seattle wanting dresses made and alterations done, alterations don't take that long but having a dress made may take you a month. If you allow yourself enough time and call before you go pick up your items you'll be fine. I had a dress made for one of my drill team members white w/sequins and it only cost me $25. My new years eve dress was a size too big and they altered it to perfection. Our drill team banner was sewn there and it is flawless. I took 2 pair of pants to have zippers replaced and I took a shirt to be altered. The shirt was waaay too big. They did all 3 for $13. I refer them to all of my drill team parents for having sweat suits and dresses altered. I live in SeaTac and I drive to Seattle just to go to Adam's. It's worth it to me and I'm very picky!

Adam Tailoring altered my gown for an unbelievably reasonable price and also repaired an old family headpiece. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is because once or twice when I went back my stuff wasn't ready, but it wasn't a huge deal since I left plenty of time before my wedding. If I'd been in more of a time crunch, however, it would've been a problem. Overall I would highly recommend Adam Tailoring -- they're very friendly, inexpensive, and do great work.

After reading the reviews of this place, I went to get a dress made and gave her a month to do it. After the date that she said it'd be done, I went back and she hadn't started it yet. I went back at least 2 other times for fittings and was not happy with the end quality. They could've at least called to say that the dress wasn't ready by the date they stated instead of wasting my time to go there. I would not recommend this place.

I saw the wonderful recommendations from others that used Adam Tailoring, so I took my wedding dress in to do a simple job. 3 hooks in the back to bustle it. I dropped it of on a Monday and was told that it would be done by Thursday. I came back Saturday afternoon and the dress wasn't finished. I came back that next Monday to find that they hadn't even touched it. I had to wait half an hour so they could do a rush job. I'm sorry that I went out of my way to take my dress there!

I wholeheartedly recommend Adam Tailor for alterations and custom tailoring. They are really far away from my house now that they are no longer located at 23rd and Union, but I still save up all my pants to bring to them. My husband also brings every single one of his dress shirts to Adam Tailor so they can be brought in on the sides (no more billowing!). We save up all our new purchases and make about four trips a year here. They're not open on Sunday, so it's hard for us to come more frequently. If you take their skill and craftsmanship into account, you might expect to pay major bucks, but you won't. I once brought in five pairs of pants (four pairs of slacks and one pair of jeans) and a skirt. I needed a liner added to the filmy, elastic-waisted skirt and hemming for the pants. When I came back a week later, my bill was $40, half of which was for the skirt because of the complexity of the project and which they had warned me would be a difficult job. It costs a lot more if you want to keep the original hem on your jeans, but I don't remember how much more. (The same as the cost at Nordstrom, I think.) When Adam Tailor made my wedding dress, a knockoff that I requested using only two less-than-ideal photos, they measured me once, told me how much silk to buy, saw me for two fittings total, and charged me $120. I spent less than a tenth of the cost (silk crepe purchase included!) of the designer dress I lusted after. The back of the dress wasn't exactly the same as the original, but I didn't have a photo or drawing of it. Even though I wasn't able to describe the back as well as I wanted, the dress still turned out lovely. The ao dai that they made for me was absolutely perfect. They had the fabric on the premises and I picked it out after seeing an album with another bride in the same dress. When I tried the dress on at home before my wedding, it made me look so good that my dad lavished praise on me like he's never done before or since. If that's not a testament to the skill of the seamstresses at Adam Tailor, I don't know what is! If you're having a Vietnamese wedding or if you want you to rent an ao dai to wear to a dress-up event, check out the selection at Adam Tailor. That is, unless your body is anywhere outside the norm. My husband is 6'3" and had to have his custom-made! It, too, fit perfectly, just as an ao dai should. Plus, he's got it in the closet in case he ever has a reason to wear it again.

I brought a satin silk skirt with a side-zipper to Adam Tailor that I needed taken in. Knowing it was a more complicated alteration, I was fully prepared to be told they couldn't do it (which I'd already heard) or that it would look awkward. Although they mentioned the difficulty involved in passing, that was it. And then a few days later I came in to find a skirt that fit perfectly and looked as if it always had. I've had other items altered and know people who have had custom clothing made by Adam Tailor and satisfaction is the outcome every time. I believe they specialize in making Vietnamese ao dai, which they may also rent out. One of the things I really like about Adam Tailor is that I never feel rushed. I can try on my clothes, discuss with them what I want and where I would like the items to fit better, they'll pin and re-pin, and it all feels like they are really focused on making sure I will come back and be happy with the results. (It may help that they don't have a steady stream of people coming in to drop off their dry cleaning, which is usually the case if I'm too lazy to drive to Adam Tailor.) Even better, their alterations are usually done within a week. I don't know if they accept credit cards, but I want to say they don't; I've always paid in cash--which I never do--so I'm guessing that may be one of the only forms of money they take. I don't mind, though, as it's usually a lot less cash I'm handing over than I would be elsewhere. Adam Tailor's sister store used to be located at 23rd and Union. This location is on Rainier just south of the Safeway shopping area. There's usually parking right out front. If you park on the street, be careful as the space between parked cars and moving vehicles is small.
